This week I made the Forest Portal (35x30), an extremely magical map set deep in the forest! Or, if you'd rather it wasn't all that magical, I made two extra iterations with less and no magic, so you can tailor the level of enchantment to your encounter. Fun!

Your alternate versions of this map are Corrupted and Evil- less fun! Now, it's time to talk about things- let's not forget that my initial plan for the Expert tier was that it would be where I'd post my weirder variants, the ones where I get a little silly with it. In practice I've only rarely gotten weird with my maps, but this time I wanted to do something a little different. Specifically, the Corrupted version is a little odd- it stars overlapping, multicolored magical effects and unusually colored forest beyond the portal. I wanted to imply that something has gone horribly wrong with the portal, it's broken and might lead somewhere unexpected/cause damage to those who enter. I think what I ended with implies that. So, I made this version by messing around with many filters and altering layers in unusual ways, which unfortunately means I had no way to replicate the look of it for the 'Sparking' version of this map. Instead, I gave you the 'Off' version and no 'Sparking' one. With that in mind, when you intend on using this Corrupted variant, I suggest using the regular Day versions up until the portal would be activated and then swapping to the Corrupted portal, hopefully thoroughly spooking your players with the drastic change in colors/lighting and 100% getting the idea across that this portal is absolutely not what they thought it would be.

And in the Evil version the portal is red and black!
