Hello Adepts/Experts! This week your alternate versions are Subdued and Campless. The campless version makes this map just a nice place to set up your own encounter without needing to use the camp props, giving you plenty of room for activities. The subdued version I made a little more extreme than usual, really leaning into the 'grim' vibe, which I think makes the map feel very tense and maybe even a little sickly. I think both these versions will be useful ones to have on hand!

1. So the idea for this map is simple enough- a tidy camp tucked into some old crumbling ruins in the jungle, perfect for additional encounters while traveling through Tomb of Annihilation's massive jungle.

I designed the ruins to give the appearance of being originally symmetrical but destroyed by time, providing inconsistent cover. These types of ruined walls have always been a favorite of mine because of how unreliable they could be as cover, depending on how you want to play it. If you want, you can decide that they are barely still standing and even an arrow or wayward guiding bolt could send them toppling.

2. The outlines turned out to be tricky this week, and for a different reason than usual- my drawing tablet bit the dust. I tried out a new brand too, but it was extremely unimpressive so that one was returned a few days later. Finally, I decided that I probably should stick with what I know and just get a new Intuos Pro, replacing my used Intuos 4 I got 6 years ago. Anyway, I got down to drawing 3 days late this week, which made for a pretty work-filled weekend. Unfortunate since this needed to be a pretty detailed map. Ain't that just how things go?

3. Since I worked with James' RPG Art on this map, we had to come to a consensus on this like color and lighting, and fortunately we were of the same mind on this one. I followed his lead on the color choices, imitating his painting while attempting to keep the palette slightly similar to others like this map I've made in the past. In the end, his painting looks amazing and I quite like how my map turned out, and I think this is my favorite collaboration I've done with him yet!

Ooh, excellent for a bunch of raiders or the aftermath of a bloody battle. Great stuff!
