Hey everyone, I'm back once again with the next map in line: Riverside Ruins (30x24)! I've enjoyed going back to lush forested maps the last couple weeks, they're definitely my favorite to draw and I think they're usually my best work. I think it's time to move on to more diverse maps though, and thankfully the poll dictates that we'll be having a number of interesting ones in the weeks to come!

The alternate version of this week's map is with a nice autumnal palette, something I haven't made in quite a while. I changed the colors I typically use for this kind of thing and I think it came out really well! It's a fairly simple switch, but I like how the feel of the map changes to a more serious vibe I think.

Next week is the 6th highest-voted map from the poll, the Mining Caves, though I admit I don't have anything planned for it quite yet and as much as I would like it to be a magical-glowing-ore mine I think I'll have to make it miscellaneous enough that it can be used for anything.

Haven't commented on anything in a while, so I figured I'd drop into comments to say how happy I am with all of your maps - they give me so many tools to use for my players, as long as I put them in the right environments. "...as I would like it to be a magical-glowing-ore mine I think I'll have to make it miscellaneous enough that it can be used for anything. " I agree with that decision, but you mentioning this has given me some thoughts. I'd love to see a magical-glowing-ore mine at some point in future. In fact, I'd love to see heavily magical or fantastical maps in general, on occasion. "The Afterlife", "The Back of an Ancient Colossus", "Giant Beehive", "Tunnels of Flesh", "Mushroom Forest", "The Astral Plane", "Floating Islands"... Just a thought. You're by no means obligated to do so, but I wonder if you polled, say, one fantastical map up against a group of mundane maps, if it would come out with enough votes to justify. Alternatively, the "Magical ores" mine could be the alt version of the mundane mine. (I have no idea if this is practical, I don't know how much work it would take. I wouldn't even benefit, I'm not Adept...)

Perfect, this will make a great camp site for a bugbear and goblin encounter.

I had the same idea actually- for whatever reason I always picture my maps being ran with low-level enemies like bandits, skeletons, or goblins

Hey Vimes, and thank you very much! That's kinda the niche that my Adept posts allow actually- somewhat less useful but more story heavy versions of my regular maps, not that that's how I always do it (take this week's autumn palette swap for example). I did try a few somewhat more fantastical (or at least exotic) options in my last poll such as 'Lava fort' and 'Underdark Outpost', though they got middling interest. I really like your suggestions though, I think I'll be putting a couple of them on the next poll to see how they do! Maybe not 'Tunnels of Flesh' though, that's grossing me out.
