Hey there! This week's map is the Village Square, a compact 30x30 map with all kinds of obstacles to make combat interesting. I like making these kinds of maps with jumbled layouts because it offers opportunities to fight at short, mid, and long range as need be, making sure that any player can use their full array of spells and weapons as long as they're crafty about positioning and cover.

This one is actually based off of a little side quest I put together for my players while they were on the road. Stopping by the town's inn, they were tasked by the village elder to catch a big dangerous beast that had been emerging from the nearby forest to prowl the village's streets at night, causing damage to the town in an apparent rabid frenzy. As it turned out, a trapper in town (whose house had taken some damage from the creature) had captured a couple of the rare beast's cubs and had them caged in his cellar with the intention of selling them later, but of course he felt he had done nothing wrong. Will your party find a way to free the cubs, or will they slay the rare beast and harvest the various valuable monster parts?

Also, just a thought, someone mentioned a while back that they placed my Flooded Dungeon map under a town's well. Perhaps this little village's well pulls water directly from some of the dungeon's standing water and people drinking it have started getting sick. Sounds like a job for some capable adventurers, huh?

I hope you guys like this one, next week I might be doing something a little different, maybe something not from the poll, so stay tuned!

Even before reading the description I remembered this one! :D

I love the chimney smoke on a cold spring/fall morning. It makes the place feel lived in and rooftop chases that much more interesting.

I absolutely love your maps! I have a request and it might be a bit too much, but I would love to see a cut up modular collection of rooms for your dungeons. I print and laminate your work on A4 pieces of paper and its hard to reveal the dungeon step by step at times! it would be amazing to have segments on a white background (Like the mini dungeon you made) but each hall way/room was 1 A4 Page each, or 2 A4 For the big ones. They are already pretty much the right size! Basically then any time you make a new dungeon there is a bunch of rooms that are then able to be added into a specific dungeon pallet!

Very well done on this map! Thank you. May I put in a request for the next one? Can we have a Pirate Ship to Pirate Ship Battlemap ?

I hadn't thought of making a ship map, that's a good idea! I've already started this week's map however, so I'll add it to the roster

Gorgeous! And with ton of gameplay potential.

I totally missed this one! Must've deleted the email by accident. Coming back to comment because I want to say, I love how the buildings don't line up to the grid! Players and GMs can adapt to half-squares being full and whatnot, not a problem. A map that's perfectly aligned to the grid isn't awful, but it can leave a map feeling unusually blocky. This map feels much more organic!

I totally agree! Something I dislike about my typical urban map is how square everything is, something about it doesn't have the bustling town vibe that I'm looking for. Another thing that's cool about half-squares is that they're more versatile and it makes the player describe how they're using the space (I have my back pressed up against the wall or I'm leaning over the edge of the roof).

Download is unavailable. Which is really sad because I LOVE this map! I already apologized in one of the adept posts for blowing up the comments but I'm real bummed when I fall in love with one of your maps and can't grab it!
