And the winner of the most recent poll is the Infested Cave, winning out barely over the Mountainside Temple by 4 votes (you'll get there someday, Little Beach Camp)!! While it may seem to be an unassuming cave at first glance, a perceptive adventurer will notice large tunnels carved into the rock, and an eerie glow coming off of clutches of strange yellow eggs in the distance.

I based this one off of an encounter in my personal campaign, where a blacksmith hired the party to find the source of some strange metal he purchased off of a beggar boy in the market. The boy reveals he found it while in the tunnels below the city and leads the party down (for a price). He leads you to a cave, and it turns out the strange metal was actually the carapace of a rust monster and the cave is their nest! One thing led to another, a rust monster was befriended with a natural 20 animal handling check, and the players barely escaped as they were chased through tight corridors by the queen.

I don't normally like implying very much story in my maps, so I've made sure to include a version of the map without any sign of bugs. Also, the Adept version this week is a color palette switch to gray stone walls and floors. It's handy as it gives the impression of a colder location, so make sure to check it out!

On Monday I'll start working on the next map, so make sure you get your votes in the poll before then. Mountainside Temple has a commanding lead over Logging Camp, but you never know!

Adeps can find their post here, and a more lush version here!

Another beautiful map, one I will definitely use!

It's an awesome map indeed, but the title set me up to the wrong expectations. By infested you mean with monsters of the DM choice. I thought about a cave with fungus, spores or some kind of taint which lead me to imagine a different colour palette with more green and/or purple. In the way that it is, it's still a very usable map that targets a larger population but the latter would be much more unique (and is presumably harder to find one alike).

It was a tricky map to make for exactly that reason; I realized partway through that no matter which way I took it, someone would be disappointed. If people are interested, I could always step back into this map and redo it in a more overgrown, fungus-y way!
