Hey guys!

Today for something emotional. I am always so happy to have the opportunity to iilustrate the many story elements of Teryte Chronicles for my dear friends. This was no exception and was a bit unusual since this time I got to illustrate a poem. And a very special one at that. I hope you will enjoy it and feel the sorrow I felt when reading it.

Today I Saw a Dragon Cry

Today I watched a dragon cry,

Today I watched my sister die,

On a cobbled beach, on distant shore,

She shut her blue eyes for evermore,

These last few months have been all for her,

Caring not the cost it would incur,

Mother set the family to this,

Knowing skin and scales alike will miss,

We trod the Pilgrim's Path once again,

Quietly rushed, not yet knowing when,

Beneath the boughs of great coal oak tree,

I read her favourite poetry,

Dominique paints her as if still young,

Once her voice failed, her songs we sung,

Melissa, her name should be well known,

In my rough journal or father's tome,

I knew not where my sister was born,

Returning was something from her torn,

We will keep on towards her last rest,

Remind our mother she did her best,

I beg my words to fill up this page,

Blank space mocking, draws out useless rage,

I fear I'm doing my grieving wrong,

I fear the next will not be too long,

Immortal my sire and mother too,

Despite their might there's naught they can do,

To stop the turn of the stars above,

So they must pay the price of their love,

None of us, nor them, will be the same,

If we were it would be crying shame,

Sobbing tears lost in the ocean spray,

In her mother's arms she passed away,

Hearing the water crash about them,

A grey eye turned, lit like a green gem,

Today I watched a human die,

Today I watched my mother cry.
