The first two pages of a six-page horror comic I've been working on! The pages are pretty big, so you may have to right-click and open them in a new tab to view them properly.

This is something I've been wanting to do for a while; something a bit different from my usual cel-shaded aesthetic. I haven't done real digital paintings like these in a long time and doing it again has got me re-learning a lot of old tricks as well as learning a few new ones. The overall "look" of this comic is heavily inspired by the classic illustrations of Stephen Gammell, who you may know better as the illustrator for the "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark" trilogy. The actual subject matter, however, is largely inspired by my own nightmares throughout the years.

Gosh, I hope that guy was left-handed 😬

Don't worry; only the flesh of your "dream self" is eaten.

That's interesting. I wonder if getting part of your "dream self" bitten off has any long term psychological ramifications, or "damages the soul" at all or anything. Cuz if not, then props to scary horror monster dude for controlling himself I guess? It'd remind me a bit of how the emotivore vampire, Thomas Raith from the Dresden Files would 'skim a little emotion' off the top of his customers at his hair salon to keep himself sated, rather than just draining people and making them his thralls.

So this is the face of my dreams' recurring nemesis... Next time I meet it, I'm gonna try to force myself to lucid-dream and bring a Doom Slayer-worth of arsenal for payback!

Careful what you wish for, for the comic is not over yet...

Not bad this way to do it! It's different from the usual one but still interesting. Horror is not my favorite genre but I don't mind it. I've already seen several movies or played several games of the genre. So I will wait for the next part of this little comic. ^^ PS: personally, I almost never remember my dreams... same for the nightmares...

Well if you want better dream recall, I find it's best to keep a dream diary. I used to do that back in high school- right after I awake I just write down whatever I can remember, even if it's something brief like "I dreamed I was at the park". If you can't remember just write "nothing remembered."

Dream Mini-Me, in a squeaky voice, at that eldritch abomination: "Fite me u coward! >:( "

It is interesting how you drew the nightmare. Fear knows us better than anyone else. Takes many forms, from the most bizarre to the horrendous ones. I'd like to see where this comics will go. Great work ^^

Honestly, my dream diary would have been almost empty! X) But hey, it's not something I miss not remembering. I've always lived without it, so I'm just going with it. ^^
