This is all just what I personally think might be going on: Echidna hating Emilia I believe has to do with the fact that she looks like her mother. Echidna probably knew Emilia’s mother and hates her and Emilia looks just like her mother which makes Echidna anger rise whenever she sees Emilia(just like anybody else in the world). Echidna crying though, I honestly think that Echidna isn’t as emotionless as she appears to be. Echidna probably cried seeing Emilia’s ideal present, as several of us probably teared up seeing that. Echidna was killed and I honestly think that her dedicating her life to many things that could be good(or sometimes not be good) for others caused her to not explore/understand her emotions. After she began to tear up/cry, we see her disappear, as if to say “stop, dont look at me” or “I cant stand to continue watching.” She was crying for how happy Emilia could have been but she hates her which is conflicting her. I believe another thing that could make Echidna hate Emilia is that she was pampered. Even after freezing the entire forest, she met Subaru which is like her slave willing to do anything for her. However there must be a reason she decided to send Puck to protect her so I think Echidna definitely knows something and is why she placed countermeasures like Saving/Protecting Emilia, Creating the Sanctuary, Creating Betty & Puck, creating a book that can predict the future, and who knows what else. It definitely feels like she was preparing for something and now we will never know because SUBARU decided not to accept her help 🥲 We lost our best source of knowledge so we gonna have to wing it now
