UPDATE: The 2.0 version of this video is embedded above and available for download now.

What if internal developer benchmarking tools for the PC version of Cyberpunk 2077 could run on consoles too? Well, they can! Rich eases back into video production for 2024 by showing various internal benchmark runs 'ported across' from PC to consoles via the cross-platform save share option. But are any of them actually useful when the consoles use FPS limits? And what happens if we run those same benchmarks on a PC built from very console-like hardware? It's all here.

Cyberpunk 2077: PC Benchmarks Running on PS5 and Xbox Series X - So What Do They Do?

I had a shower thought about this one. Could it be that the performance drop on Xbox at that one corner is caused more by the limitations of the Xbox's slower SSD, rather than pure GPU power? Given it's called "streaming test", and that there are a few of them, I think they might be for validating ssds on a pass or fail criteria, with each of the benchmarks being a sort of easy or hard test. My hypothesis is that the test is trying to load a larger section of Night City than the xbox can handle at that section, and performance suffers while the GPU tries to pull in assets over a longer period of time. The Playstation might therefore be less affected in that part because of the greater bandwidth offered by uts ssd, and the 7900XTX PC might be able to do that part because it's able to fill up VRAM faster, from what I assume is a pretty speedy PC ssd, or RDNA3 might be better at asset streaming in general. How do you access the streaming test on PC? I'd love to try conducting an experiment myself, to see if I can get any useful data.

Pretty sure it's the GPU as the Series S is outperforming Series X, presumably down to its lower resolution relative to its GPU power.
