In response to the question about whether a decryption key could be protected by copyright, I think it's more likely that Nintendo would argue that sharing it constitutes proscribed Anti-Circumvention behaviour in relation to Wii game software https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-circumvention

Regarding video playback, have you tried mpc hc with madvr? It works wonders for me, but I've never really checked statistics for dropped frames, etc, so forgive if I'm off base.
