Hello everyone! Rich here, Saturday evening and I've just finished writing up an article about the potential of Ryzen for the next-gen consoles - that'll be up on Eurogamer tomorrow, along with a video I completed on Friday - so look out for that. Yeah, we often end up working weekends in order to keep the new videos flowing: John shared his Need for Speed 4K on a budget episode today and only finished that up this morning!

Anyway, we've had a number of requests in the past to host great quality trailers, so we really tried our best to bring you everything we could from E3. As you know, John grabbed a bunch of 4K assets from the Microsoft E3 briefing - which was fascinating as the feed was provided as four 1080p streams, one for each corner of the screen! John took a device called the Shogun Inferno into the MS briefing and plumbed himself into their media riser.

No such luck with Sony though - only 720p and 1080i options available there, so we can't bring you the same level of quality. However, I got in contact with Sony and they gave me *their* source files for their YouTube uploads. Quality isn't bad - h.264 at 25mbps - but not quite up to our standards, but still way better than streaming on YT. So these are the best quality versions of the E3 videos for Spider-Man, Uncharted, Detroit, Shadow of the Colossus and Days Gone - so do enjoy that.

You can grab those files now by visiting this URL which has all of our Patreon-specific content tagged for easy browsing: https://www.digitalfoundry.net/browse/patreon-exclusive

Right! Well, my weekend begins now - hope you have a good one!

Actually, when I say my weekend begins now, what I actually mean is that I'm going to spend a reasonably sized chunk of Sunday checking out PS4 titles on PlayStation Now. Tom was playing Super Stardust Ultra, God of War 3, Killzone Shadowfall and others in the office on Friday and seemed really satisfied with the input lag. You can play it for free for a week so maybe some of you PS4 owners might like to check it out.

Thank you guys for working overtime to put out these great quality video's!

Really wish Sony would not have skimped on the quality of these videos. Or at least offered 4K capture at their press event. I believe these are the same videos they provided to Gamersyde and Spider-Man in particular is disappointing. It basically looks the same if not a TAD better than the 4K Youtube upload. There's plenty of motion artifacts which really does a number disrupting the games super clean aesthetic.

Yes, it's a bit frustrating. All of the files look like 25mbps h.264 at constant bitrate. I have offered to share our workflow with Sony - results can be radically improved simply by switching to x264/x265 quality based encoding. Open source software, wouldn't cost them a penny.
