Chapter 187: Struggle

At the moment when the black and white world collapsed, Luo clearly felt the revival of his ability linked to the "White Smoke" font, which had been opaque and difficult to use.

Initially, when he thought he had the upper hand, the power of the nen after death that manifested surprised him, gathering all its might to construct a nen space that sealed him within.

At that time, it was like he was sealed in a coffin that couldn’t be opened, and that nen did something unknown, causing the speed at which his "White Smoke" font absorbed resentment to slow down.

In such a situation, he needed to fully absorb that nen to break free from the nen space, but since the absorption speed had decreased, even though he expanded his domain in resistance, he was still in a very dangerous condition.

The worst outcome would be death, the best that he would use up significant aura to deal with the nen after death.

However, before the outcome was determined, a black cat that sprung out from a book helped him by consuming half of his aura, and finally crushed Stajy’s nen space…

He had thought it would take much effort to resolve Stajy’s nen, but it ended up being so easily done.

"See you." After crushing the nen space, the black cat left behind a word, transformed into a black streak, and attached itself to the rusty blade of the "True Master", turning into a pitch-black scabbard adorned with patterns of silver flames.

He paused, seemingly feeling uncomfortable, then from the manifested scabbard form, it reverted to a black streak and entered into the palm of Luo’s right hand, leaving behind a tattoo of a silver flame on the back of his hand.

Luo had no time to think further as the "White Smoke" font began absorbing the nen of Stajy, who had lost the ability to resist, with the data breaking through 30% at a rapid pace.

At the same time, the constantly swirling nen space within the hall started to visibly shrink.

This scene was noticed by Bisky, who immediately looked puzzled, while Antomu and others were engaged in battle, only sparing a bit of attention for the nen space.

Caught within the nen space, Luo was unaware of what was happening outside. While absorbing the resentment, he continuously puzzled over what exactly the black cat was and its possible connection to the Dark Continent.

The black cat had sprung from the book "God’s Hand". At that time, Luo had only seen the flipping of the black pages. From its root, it should have been his nen beast, but the black cat’s actions after its appearance made Luo doubt this.

"Could it really be a creature from the Dark Continent? But why would it appear in this manner?" Luo pondered silently, his knowledge about the Dark Continent was too limited. If the black cat truly came from the Dark Continent, then wouldn't the book "God's Hand" have become a portal?

Luo shook his head slightly, and at that moment, the resentment absorbed into his body wove a series of fragmented images in his mind.

To this, Luo was not surprised; these must be Stajy's memories from before her death, a situation he had encountered two or three times before while absorbing ancient nen artifacts.

However, this time seemed a bit special; the memory images were incomplete and not very numerous.

The black cat had consumed half his aura, and the final result was equivalent to him using up half his aura to resolve Stajy’s nen.

From the outcome, it seemed the black cat actually helped him, because in that situation, he didn’t know how much aura he would have to grind down to endure until the "White Smoke" font completely absorbed Stajy’s nen.

Moreover… since the black cat could consume aura, why did it spare Stajy’s nen? With its ability to crush nen spaces, taking this piece of cake should not have been difficult. It felt as if it was following some rules in doing so.

Luo held his right hand horizontally in front of his eyes, in the dark vision, he could clearly see the silver tattoo on the back of his hand emitting a faint light.

"Never mind, let's not think about it for now." He murmured softly.

Moments later, the pitch-black nen space in the hall completely disappeared, revealing Luo standing upright.

Having absorbed the resentment, Luo gained quite a few fragments of memories, giving him a certain understanding of Stajy.

Meanwhile, the category data broke through 35%, and the total potential aura significantly increased.

Fortunately, the black cat didn’t consume all his aura. If he had run out of aura, what capital would he have left to compete for the stone harp and the gem pendant?

"You didn’t die." Bisky, seeing the unscathed Luo, was unexpectedly surprised.

Hearing Bisky’s words, Luo's face darkened slightly, but he didn’t explain anything to Bisky, instead turning to

look at the situation in the hall, his eyes narrowing.

In the distance, Uncle Li's headless corpse lay on the ground, blood all over the place, not far in another direction, Aya lay among a pile of rocks, her life and death unknown, while Antomu and Ruby were confronting each other.

When Luo looked over, he saw Ruby, though uninjured, was panting heavily, clearly on the verge of depleting all his energy, while Antomu breathed steadily, obviously having the upper hand.

Seeing this scene, Luo understood clearly. Probably while he was being specifically targeted by Stajy’s nen, Uncle Li and the others had tried to take the stone harp and the gem pendant during the fight, but Antomu had gained the upper hand.

Trapped in the nen space, it must have been less than five minutes before the resentment was absorbed, but that trio, not weak in strength, had fallen with two down and the remaining one barely hanging on.

“I hadn’t noticed him before, didn’t expect him to be so strong!” Luo’s gaze fell on Antomu's quite formidable aura, a hint of gravity flashing in his eyes.

Bisky came to his side, observing him with a strange look.

He had thought Luo was definitely dead, yet he had managed to get rid of that troublesome nen, this kid’s nen removal technique was really formidable.

Luo silently distanced himself, keeping a wary eye on Bisky.

Seeing Luo’s reaction, Bisky gave a wry smile, but it was understandable, after all, hunters could resort to any means to obtain their coveted prey, the lying corpse of Uncle Li and the uncertain fate of Aya on the other side were proof.

“If you are scared, now is still a good time to run.” Bisky suggested.

Luo didn’t say a word, even though Antomu displayed very strong strength, even though he knew the strength Bisky hid, at this moment, he couldn’t possibly run.

Not just because of the nen on the stone harp and gem pendant, but because he had things he must do.

Seeing Luo unmoved, Bisky pursed her lips, then turned to watch the battle between Antomu and Ruby, knowing that within ten seconds, Ruby would fall.

At the moment the pitch-black nen space disappeared, Antomu no longer needed to be vigilant, he looked at the gasping Ruby and sneered, “Your nen isn’t bad, like a slippery eel, but it lacks offensive power, what good is it?”

As soon as the words fell, he charged towards the pale-faced Ruby.

Antomu’s speed, strength, and skills completely outmatched him, if not for "Rhythm of Life," he wouldn’t have lasted that long, and now he had reached his limit.

Ruby felt despair but refused to give up.

It was just futile struggling…

Antomu launched a fierce attack on Ruby, continuing for seven or eight seconds until Ruby, exhausted, showed a clear flaw.

Antomu caught this flaw, slapped his hand on Ruby’s chest, accompanied by the sound of bones breaking, Ruby was flung back, smashing heavily against the wall, blood spewing from his mouth, then he collapsed and didn’t get up.

After taking down Ruby, Antomu looked back at Luo and Bisky, then walked toward the stone harp and Stajy’s body.

“You can’t beat him, don’t hope to snatch the treasures, just run honestly.” Bisky tilted her head to look at the calm Luo, suggesting once more.

Luo remained silent, watching as Antomu picked up Stajy’s body, he silently used Ren, his aura surging throughout his body.

“Fool.” Bisky sighed in resignation.

“Hmm?”

Antomu looked at Luo, said indifferently: “I only want these two things, the rest are yours to take.”

“Leave Stajy.” Luo responded this way.
