Chapter 340: Extra Story 5

Ling Chunann matched the person before him with the character information in his mind.

Xiao Heng, one of the male leads, is undoubtedly a big boss in Country E's underground world, thirty-two years old, handsome and successful in his career. Most importantly, his private life is clean; he has never been in a relationship from childhood till now. His visit to China was for business, which somewhat resembled He Lianfeng's public persona.

If Ling Chunann was not mistaken, the person who was lying under his garage last night was him.

According to the plot, this person was supposed to meet the female lead a few days later due to being chased by enemies, and then be rescued by her, subsequently developing gratitude towards her, leading to a relationship after her deliberate seduction, and finally falling for the temptress's allure.

Obviously, the plot had gone completely off track.

Seeing Ling Chunann looking at him, Xiao Heng perked up, stepped forward with a radiant smile, and offered a bouquet from his embrace, his eyes full of affection, “Darling, I picked these most beautiful roses from Nanshan this morning—ninety-nine red roses, symbolizing my everlasting love for you.”

“How did you think I would like roses?” Ling Chunann asked.

Xiao Heng replied, “Darling, the moment I saw you, I thought of the most gorgeous rose, which matches you so well. So, darling, did I guess right?”

Ling Chunann smirked ambiguously, took the bouquet, inserted the key into the lock, “Thank you, I really like it. Also, sir, please clean the hallway, I’m busy now and can’t keep you company.” With that, he pulled Zhong Lian who followed him into the house, and slammed the door shut.

Xiao Heng, nearly hit in the nose by the suddenly closed door, was speechless.

Casually placing the bouquet on an empty vase on the shoe cabinet at the entrance, Ling Chunann turned to his new agent, “Want something to drink?”

“Plain water is fine.” Zhong Lian glanced at the closed door and then at the flowers now resting in the vase, “That person outside?”

“Don't know him, probably just a fan.” The water dispenser was out of water, Ling Chunann opened the refrigerator, “Is ice water okay?”

Zhong Lian nodded, “It's fine.”

Neither were newcomers in the entertainment industry, so their work discussion went smoothly. About half an hour later, they had already reached a preliminary consensus on their future career paths, and it was also time for lunch.

Ling Chunann stood up first, “It’s getting late, why not stay for lunch, Ah Lian?”

“Sure.”

The person stayed, but Ling Chunann then realized there were only two eggs and a tomato in the fridge, but luckily, there was also a packet of noodles. Eventually, Zhong Lian ended up cooking two bowls of tomato and egg noodles to get by.

After lunch, Zhong Lian washed the dishes and then bid farewell to Ling Chunann, “It's not convenient and safe for you to live here, the company will arrange a new place for you, I’ll come over tomorrow to help you move.”

Ling Chunann raised an eyebrow, “The apartment I'm currently living in was also arranged by the company.”

“Now that your contract has changed, naturally you no longer need to stay in such a low-security small apartment, I had already informed the president this morning, we should be able to move to the new place soon.” Zhong Lian was unexpectedly assertive on this.

“That’s fine, I have no dinner for tonight, could you help me bring some groceries later, Mr. Agent?”

Zhong Lian restored his gentle smile, “Of course, I still have some work to do, I’ll leave now.”

Ling Chunann casually waved his hand, grabbed the remote control, and turned on the TV, which was broadcasting some boring news about a celebrity's affair.

A slight click from the entrance was the sound of Zhong Lian leaving.

A few minutes later, Ling Chunann got up, walked to the door, opened it, and the hallway outside was spotlessly clean, showing no trace of rose petals—as if the earlier confession was just an illusion.

“Host, Xiao Heng left shortly after you entered the house, and then a few people came to clean the hallway.” 098 timely reported, “Host, is Xiao Heng the grown-up?” It was now somewhat confused; these people all looked so similar, who exactly was the real grown-up?

098 used to think the dark room was scary, but now it realized that it was too naïve before; the feeling of not knowing when you might die is far more terrifying.

Ling Chunann did not answer, took another look at the eerily quiet hallway, then closed the door, and

turned around only to discover that the bouquet of roses he had put in the vase had disappeared.

“Huh? Host, your flowers are gone.” 098 also noticed this strange occurrence, “But the agent doesn’t seem like someone who would steal flowers, wait, let me check the surveillance. Weird, Zhong Lian didn’t take the flowers out when he left either.” There was no surveillance in the hallway, but there was in the elevator, and from the time Zhong Lian left the door to the elevator was just a few seconds; if he had taken the flowers and disposed of them, there wouldn’t have been enough time, so it likely wasn’t Zhong Lian who took them.

“Did I bring the flowers in earlier? 098, you must be hallucinating.” Ling Chunann said nonchalantly.

098: “…” Could it really be getting senile? No, it clearly remembered that the host had put the flowers in the vase. But now the host said he hadn’t taken them, and the host’s memory was always better than its, so he must be right… maybe.

At dinner time, Zhong Lian came again to cook for Ling Chunann, then brought out several scripts, all business-like, “Take a look at these scripts, and if you’re interested, I’ll arrange for you.”

“Sure, I will look at them.” Ling Chunann was satisfied with his diligent agent, “It’s getting late, I won’t keep you, see you tomorrow.”

After sending off Zhong Lian, Ling Chunann quickly flipped through the scripts he had been given.

There were three scripts in total: one was a youth literary film, although a small production, the director was a well-known veteran domestically, with a reliable box office history; another was a historical epic film, also produced by a famous director, clearly aimed at international awards; the last script was an idol drama, not as significant as the first two, but it was the fastest way to make Ling Chunann famous, more importantly, acting was not required for this drama, just his face was enough, compared to the high demands of the first two scripts, this was definitely the easiest path.

This was clearly the choice Zhong Lian had laid out for Ling Chunann, whether to go for talent or looks, with Zhong Lian’s capabilities, he had the confidence to bring Ling Chunann to the world’s biggest screen, but the focus could be entirely different.

Ling Chunann had previously been known for his acting, but this time… he thought for a moment, and picked the third script.

This script was financed by Boyue Investments, which also included funding from Tan Anchun, and it was also the female lead’s first public appearance, Ling Chunann was particularly looking forward to acting opposite her. After flipping through the characters, Ling Chunann eventually chose the role of the antagonist.

Once the script and role were confirmed, the next steps were operated by Zhong Lian. Initially, Ling Chunann thought he might need to audition, but unexpectedly, on the third day, he received the character confirmation contract from the production team.

Clearly, his agent was much more capable than he had thought.

Time quickly moved to the first day of shooting. As the major antagonist, with scenes lined up after the two leads, Ling Chunann arrived at the set unhurriedly after waking up, at that time, filming had already started.

At the moment, it was the female lead and male lead’s confrontational scene being shot, the male lead was a currently popular young idol, around seventeen or eighteen years old, with a radiant smile. Under the makeup artist’s skilled hands, he transformed into a spiky-haired punk with two bandaids on his face, dressed as a rebellious youth, while the female lead appeared as a pure and innocent good girl, the first scene was the male lead teasing the female lead.

“Cut!”

The director's frustrated voice rang out, “Su Manqing! The female lead's character is pure! Not seductive! What kind of look was that? Do you know what pure means? If not, go home and look it up in the dictionary before you come back!”

“Sorry, director, it won’t happen again, please give me another chance,” Su Manqing looked bewildered.

Due to too many repetitions, the originally very sympathetic crowd had lost the enthusiasm to comfort her, the director grimaced and waved his hand, “Everyone, take a ten-minute break.”

“Host, this is a bit different from the original text. The plot clearly stated that the female lead passed her first acting attempt in one go, why is it taking so long to pass the first scene here?” 098 was a bit surprised.

“Probably frustrated desires,” Ling Chunann said lightly.

“…”

Though Ling Chunann seemed to be speaking offhandedly, it was not without basis. In the original text, by this time, the female lead had already slept with at least two

male leads, fully nourished by their essence, her cultivation had significantly improved, naturally controlling her innate enchanting charm as a fox spirit.

But now, looking at her energy, it seemed she hadn’t even slept with Tan Anchun, who had been docile and compliant around her for months.

Thinking of those faces somewhat resembling He Lianfeng, Ling Chunann vaguely guessed a possibility and really… didn’t feel sorry for the poor female lead at all.

By this time, many had noticed Ling Chunann’s arrival. Although his reputation for acting wasn't great, he was enduringly good-looking, and now, compared to another actor who also lacked acting skills and had wasted half their day, the crowd’s attitude towards Ling Chunann had improved a lot, coming up to greet him.

Ling Chunann politely nodded and smiled at each, unsurprisingly earning a bunch of heart-eyed gazes.

“Host, the male lead is thirty meters to your left.” 098 informed.

Just then, a well-defined hand holding a thermos cup blocked Ling Chunann’s view, Zhong Lian’s naturally gentle voice sounded, “Have some water.”
