Hello, everyone!

A massive milestone was reached yesterday: as I was hoping, the Overbreed Episode 0 video was sent off for sound design!

Tonedeaf has his work cut out for him. This video, just by its nature, is heavily dependent on sound design. He's expecting it to take him 2 or 3 weeks to get done.

So, we're not getting a quick turnaround and start-of-month posting. I was hopeful, but not optimistic. I think as long as we get the video out before August ends, I'll be satisfied with that.

Episode 0's final runtime is 7:46. As I have said before, it is very different from the usual videos. And as I have said before, because of that, it won't follow the conventional release schedule, and it won't have early access. Instead, 720p, 1080p, and 2160p will all release at the same time. That way, people can watch the 720p version for free, and then decide for themselves if they think the higher resolutions are worth it to them - no key-dangling to incentivize them.

Episode 0 is a clunker by necessity. The sheer amount of writing I had to do to clean up Blizzard's mess that is Overwatch lore, to get it into a place where waifus fucking each others' brains out makes sense, is frankly obscene. Just shy of 8 minutes' worth of being obscene, in fact.

But with Episode 0 out of the way, the rest of the mini-series has a green light. I won't have to worry about clogging the individual episodes up with trying to backfill the vast quantity of abridged, revised, and new lore that the series is built on - all of that heavy lifting will have been done in Episode 0.

This week's image is a collage of all of the individual shots used in Episode 0. As you can tell, there's, uhh... a lot. A lot of scenes, a lot of poses, a lot of characters. It's just a lot. And for as long as it took me to get this done, it would have taken magnitudes longer to make this a conventional video.

It's also not finished. A lot of shots are missing bespoke textures. Even more are missing scenebuilds altogether. And, of course, virtually none of these have lighting enabled. Most of them have lighting (if they have a full scene, they have lighting), but I turned them off for faster renders, as part of the turnaround to get this video out for sound design as fast as possible. Lights were only enabled where they were important, such as camera flashes.

So what's next, then?

While Tonedeaf chips away at the sound design, I am going to go through and finish off all of the scenes. Finish the scenebuilds, polish the lighting, make any pose tweaks necessary (I suspect finger posing is going to be the biggest sink of this).

Then, it's time to render everything out in 2160p.

I suspect I will have all of that done before Tonedeaf is done with the sound design. If that happens, then I will return my focus to Overbreed Episode 1, and finally make more headway on it. I've been 100% focused on Episode 0 here, just to get it done: after all, it's been a year since Overbreed was announced now, and I have given the public absolutely zero information to work off - and even Patrons barely got any more.

So, that's all for now! Until next week, everyone!
