The long and short behind this question is this: I've gotten to the point where I dread waking up on Saturdays, because it means working on Patreon raffles. I just don't find them fun anymore, and I would much rather spend that time working on film projects.

I suspect that most people would prefer I work on film projects that I enjoy and am interested in, as opposed to Patreon raffles I don't care about and cause me stress (such as what the Christie raffle has been doing to me for the past 4 weeks...).

But I don't want to just shut down Patreon raffle animations outright. Assuming people are okay with it, I would much rather simply contract out the animation work to other people.

$150 for a 30-second animation, done in about 30 days, I think is more than fair compensation. It may even be overpaying, but honestly, just getting the stress of these Patreon raffles out of my hair is worth $150 a month to me.

The last 3 Patreon raffles (Christie, Paine, and the one being decided for this month) are the last Patreon raffle animations I would probably ever do.

Depending on how people feel about this contracting, they might be the last Patreon raffle animations I ever direct.

raffles are nice, but not necessary to me..whatever you decide ok by me.

Why do you want to keep raffles, if they cause that much trouble? Just throw them away.

Partly because of the funding, partly for legacy's sake - they were THE very first thing my Patreon ever offered as a reward. As of right now, there are 23 people pledged to the raffle, which amounts to $460. Even with throwing $150 of that to an animator to get the raffle animation done, that still leaves $310 to go toward projects. That $310, by itself, funds over 5 minutes worth of voice-acting. I would MUCH rather keep that if I can, so that I can continue to fund projects. To bring it into focus, Blue Star Episode 2 ended up scraping by with less than $50 left over - losing that $310 would put it nearly $300 in the hole, meaning, well... I would have had to cut down the episode length in half. And I don't think ANYONE wants that.

Assuming the quality is ok I'm all for it. Would be nice if that animator communicated with the community too btw.

Yea go for the film stuff, I dont like short loops n animations these days anyway unless they are really hot. Not many ppl do the film stuff so keep standing out!

I think you're misunderstanding. I'm not discussing Patrons revoking their Patreon raffle winning to someone else. I'm discussing someone who isn't me ANIMATING their Patreon raffle.

Alrighty, well it seems that I have overwhelmingly positive support on this change. I will put together a formal post and begin hunting for an animator soon. If anyone has suggestions of animators to approach, they'd be much appreciated. Due to some personal things, I don't really keep tabs on the scene as a whole.
