Progress Report - Friday June 25, 2021 (Patreon)

Hello everyone!

Not too much to report for this week, really. I finished up and released Mercy and Zarya over on Twitter and my website, and quickly put together this proof-of-concept animation that is this post's video.

I still have to tackle Sombra's outfit. Really not looking forward to that.

As you can tell, the Mercy and Zarya outfits have a fair bit of clipping going on. I'm definitely going to need to clean those up, but I am not too worried about it right now. Fraternization had even worse clipping than these during production, and I was able to buff those out just fine before the final render.

On the subject of Fraternization, you may recognize some familiar themes and styles when it comes to this test animation and those in the Mass Effect short. That isn't a coincidence. As I am sure many of you are aware, Fraternization was my first voiced futanari project, and really my first futanari project in general. It's a topic I haven't done much of in the past.

This isn't for a lack of interest, though. Quite the contrary, really. I have been deeply interested in it for years now, but a combination of circumstances have resulted in me shying away from any projects with it. The largest contributors to this hesitance are a general hesitance to take characters that I have classically represented as being female and reinterpreting them as futanari, and the fact that I have a personal preference for large-cock futa-on-female intense pounding action.

On the former point, as you can guess, I decided to bite the bullet with Fraternization and reinterpret Femshep. As a matter of completeness, I have had some people ask about this: Fraternization is completely independent of Blue Star. It's a totally standalone idea, with no hooks into any existing projects. Will there be future projects connected to it? Maybe. People seemed to really enjoy it (or really dislike it; the comments on the various rule34 sites swing around so wildly I got whiplash trying to read them all at once).

On the latter point, impact and fluidity have always been points of self-conscious retrospection for me. I have spent a very long time meticulously studying live-action motion and trying to replicate the kinematics of it, reasoning where the energy of motion comes from and how it would transfer through bodies. Anyone who watched the animation streams of yore is likely aware of how much I would always stress realism and understanding how actual people move, and would discourage using hentai or 3d animations as a reference point when building your own animations.

The conflict, then, is the fact that live-action doesn't have a particularly large corpus of work involving women with 13-inch dicks slamming balls-deep into another woman's ass so hard that it shakes the whole table. And so there was a sizeable gap between my modus operandi of analyzing and recreating the realistic kinematics of live-action actors, and my personal preference of huge-dick chicks having literal Earth-shaking sex.

A gap that I have been studiously and quietly working to cross through experiments and studies in exaggerated animation. With Fraternization, I felt confident enough to finally take my years of practice and testing and showcase them in a full production, to bring everything together and see what the public would think of it.

But it was still a risky endeavor. I was confident enough to go public with it, but not confident enough to commit to a big project with it. Fraternization gave me the perfect solution: a short, quick-to-produce project that has no baggage attached to it and no hooks into a larger production. If Fraternization blew up in my face and people deemed that my foray into exaggerated animation had failed, then it's no skin off my nose: I'm out only 4 weeks, and my larger futa-on-female ambitions are put on the backburner once again, as I quietly continue to practice and hone my art.

At this point, you might have guessed where I am going with this: Fraternization was a Mass Effect Legendary Edition video, yes. But it was more than that, too. It was a proving ground, for me to quickly prototype the ideas, styles, and techniques that I want to use in Overbreed. If Fraternization succeeded and people liked what they saw, then I would carry what I learned over and give people more of exactly that in Overbreed. And if it failed and people didn't like what they see, then I'd go back to the drawing board.

At this point, I am officially declaring Fraternization a runaway success. Its 5 days of early access netted back almost exactly twice its production cost, in new and upgraded pledges, and the feedback here, on Twitter, and on my Discord have been overwhelmingly positive; the rule34's have been more mixed, but overall slanted in a positive direction. I think that, barring people who dislike futa on principle and people who dislike my work on principle, everyone enjoyed what they saw. And so, I am going to give them more of that in Overbreed.

So, if the animation posted here is giving you big Fraternization vibes, that's why. I hope you like what you see, because you'll be seeing a whole lot more of it in a few months' time. And if you don't... well, maybe the narrative of Overbreed will interest you at least. I'd hate for you to go home completely disappointed.
