Finished it! Feels good to have something substantial finished. I experimented with a new way to convert photos into backgrounds. The filters kept over simplifying the mountain in the BG so I decided to just leave it completely unedited.

I finished up the BG by going in and doing a little hand painting; making things look more graphic.
