Nier's Animation (part1) Process and Source Files (Patreon)

Hello, fellow soldiers! 🫡

Here are for you some CLIP STUDIO PAINT source files of a few shots, from the Nier animation (part1), along with some insight on the process! This is a new post concept so tell me what you think!

🔺When serious things are getting started

This one was literally the first shot I made for this whole project (after the storyboard).
I absolutely wanted some closeup as a start for the spicy part. This shot also allowed me setup the base lighting and colors for the whole project. As everything happens in the same setting, this was something important.

The salia FX was made by Woulf and I had very little edits to make because he's a fx/fluids master 😊 I added it on post process with After Affects so it is not on the files though.

🔺The encounter of who will be her... student...

There are basically 4 frames to this one, but it was LONG!! Drawing a whole character with such detailed dress 4 TIMES, while making each frame coherent to each other, is such a pain! But it was worth it! (even if the shot is 2sec long 🙃welcome to animation)

The camera movement was made on After Effects so you'll notice on the source file that it's much less dynamic! Camera movement matters a lot in the pace!

🔺I could watch this for hours...

This must be the most satisfying part! Loved working on it, and there are actually not a LOT of frames (only 6)

The fluid fx (not on the gif but you can see it on my twitter post or in the video) was made by Woulf again

🔺The eye reveal...

It has to be the shot I'm the most proud of! It may not look like it, but it was actually a lot of work! To make a movement look slow AND fluid, there simply is no other way than making a lot of frames (16 of them for the hand and the hairs!). That was one of the last shot I made, and it required a lot of organization in the layers order!
