Great end to the series, this has been one of my favourites so far. Urgh Alex having to drink that nasty spit tea 🤢 the things he does for the show lol. Ed definitely deserved those 5 points for the 7-tasks task 😄 Josh, the outtake with the bra was from last week's task where they had to draw on each other's backs :D Loved that style on Rose, the tuxedo and her hairdo, she looked great, it really suited her. As always I'll miss this lot but looking forward to the next series :)

I've definitely enjoyed both Series 8 and 9 more on the re-watch than first time round; it might be an expectations thing, and it'll be interesting to see if the same happens for Series 10 as well (if it gets voted in). The shift to Covid restrictions was a big handicap - lack of a proper studio audience, limited use of the TM house for tasks, even just the space between the cast's chairs felt unnatural - but they gave it their best effort in the circumstances. Josh, you'll recognise Katherine Parkinson (Jen from the IT Crowd) and Johnny Vegas (the big fella in quite a few things whose name you can never remember!) Short outtake to finish Series 9, David tries to tell Greg about his brother Ivor (the bloke on the phone who told him the human hip is located by the testicles), but confusion ensues: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMgYWEHgSxk

It was a really good one lol that spit tea is so nasty lol. Alex is a real one. Oh ok lol thanks. I am looking forward to it also but a little bit bummed once we finish a season.

I think this is probably my favourite series, or it's at least tied with season 7. I feel a bit embarrassed to say it because it's not a very modern thing to believe, but I just like it when people are kind and nice to each other. I like the friction too, it'd be dull if it was just all positivity and no bite - but seeing people behave as the old friends they are, like with David and Jo, or like giddy new friends, as with Rose and Ed; it's just wholesome as they say. The constant toxicity and spite and division I see every time I look on Youtbe, where everyone's 'destroying' some other group of people, or on Twitter, or anywhere online...it corrodes something in me and makes me feel like my soul is sick. It's not natural for us to treat others the way social media makes us treat them, it's bad for us. And this is a kind of balm that soothes all that.

Saul, I feel the same way, about this show and everything else you said about social media etc :/ couldn't agree more. The best thing about taskmaster is the people. Greg and Alex are perfect in their roles, I love the funny insults, while all the time being able to see they genuinely like each other. The friendships between the contestants too, as you say. I love that however much they insult each other there isn't an undercurrent of spitefulness or nastiness there, it's all in good fun. It's refreshing. I love it. Like in the second episode I think, where they did the first team tasks, Jo's reaction to seeing David was funny and then how excited Rose was to see her team mates, literally skipping over like an excited child, it was lovely :D I just avoid most social media now, no Facebook, no twitter etc. I try to avoid YouTube comment sections as well. It seems like so many people's only joy in life is to sit behind their screen getting a little thrill from being horrible to someone else for something which has no impact on their life in any way. It's a sad waste of time and life. Aside from the people we love, time is the most precious thing we have and it's ticking away constantly. It's a shame that so many people just want to waste it being cruel to others 🤷‍♀️

Saul

Glad to hear you feel the same way. I think there are a lot of us out there, it’s just you don’t hear from us because everyone else is so much louder. And I’m not Neil from the young ones. I like a certain amount of needle and I can dish it out. But it’s just unbearable going online these days. We’re all caught in some kind of accelerating social experiment where random people - AI developers, Russian bots, tyrannical politicians, idiot streamers - seem to be adding terrifying new ingredients to the mix every few months for kicks. I think this channel is a nice little spot, a shady glen away from all that noise and division and tribal shit, where a nice, clever guy reacts to nice, clever comedy, for an audience of patrons who are mostly nice and clever. It might be a ‘safe space’ or something, and I might be a snowflake for finding the other stuff a turn off, but I don’t care.

BelladonnicHazeyJaneII

True, the most arseholey people are always the loudest :D Me too, I don't mind a fair amount of that either., in fact I enjoy it. I only dislike like it when it's genuinely mean spirited and cruel or against someone who isn't able to defend themselves. Yeah that's why I love Josh's channel too :) I don't spend much time online nowadays because I'm busy caring for my mum in the day time and I like to spend my free time on my hobbies, spending time with my sister and friends etc so coming here for half an hour most evenings is a nice way to unwind before bed and it feels comforting being on an actually pleasant part of the Internet. If that makes us 'snowflakes' or any other kind of over used, meaningless buzzword and this is a 'safe space' I'm perfectly happy with that :D life's too short to give a toss.

Saul

Sorry to hear about your mum. Mine's not well either, I'm in the process of moving down to live nearer so I know it's hard. Keep your chin up :)
