Pretty sure the part where he said about not going over all that again after talking about Kate Middleton's weight was regarding Princess Diana (William's mum) who struggled with an eating disorder, I think bullemia, at points in her life. And the media's obsession with her weight/appearance etc.

Keith Pratt

Yeah, that's what immediately came to my mind. She talked about it in her infamous interview with Martin Bashir.

Hey man, egg plant/aubergine has a bitter water inside that you can extract with rock salt and a colander before cooking, you'll be surprised how much comes out, I'm a chef I don't really like it either but I do know how to make it taste better! So glad we are finally on mid morning matters I remember bugging you about this show so many times over the years. Still a massive fan of what you do and happy new year mate

Yeah, teddy boys were a very unique British subculture. As you guessed, they were pretty much the equivalent of American "greasers"; rock & roll fans who copied their hairstyle from US films. But they dressed in old-fashioned clothes from the early 20th century, because fashion designers at the time tried to spark a retro trend in Edwardian clothing, and when their target demographic of affluent men rejected the style as ludicrous, it all got sold off to cheap discount stores where young working-class lads with less discerning taste could suddenly afford to buy smarter threads than anything else they owned. For a couple of decades after the 1950s the style had a revival every now and then, and the character of Harris in Porridge - the sneaky, ginger-haired thief who everyone hates - is a classic ageing teddy boy. As Alan says in this episode, they became a bit of a by-word for men stuck in the past.

A bit of a drop off in laughs in this episode but I love this show so much... There's more subtle humour in this Alan Partridge vehicle and I actually think he plays the character the best in this show... Peak annoying and cringe... There are a lot of jokes in this show that go over Josh's and probably even younger viewer's heads as it mentions a lot of older British celebrities that only boomers like me get... I wish shows didn't do this as much, as it dates them over time... There's another show called This Time which he works with sidekick Simon which is probably not quite as funny but has its moments.

He's totally right about the self checkout thing. I never have any problems because I'm not incompetent. I realise I sound like Alan saying this.

Love Alan's soothing relax jingle. Sounds so creepy and coercive "chill, shush now, come on" lol. Has completely the opposite effect of relaxing.

My god, why haven't you listened to "I, Partridge" yet? 😂
