Helen the Murderess is Adrian Edmondsons real life wife

BelladonnicHazeyJaneII

When Rik's asking Neil what pigs have ever contributed to society etc the way Rik says "it's bacon, isn't it?"cracks me up for some reason 🐷😄 Helen was played by Jennifer Saunders, Ade Edmondson's wife, she's the same woman in the episode where Rik's messing with her tampon. Just realised how Dawn French played the religious woman in this and now she's played the Easter bunny, a bit like her character in The Vicar of Dibley.

It's when Rik says hello to 'Trevor' in the bin.. still makes me laugh out loud 🤣.

Danny

When the series ended they actually did a live special for Comic Relief about 2 years later to help promote a charity single. About 17 minutes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NhqlrQ64f2Y

Danny

The random "is this a cheese shop?" And he just says no 😅 is a parody of a famous Monty Python sketch - Cheese Shop

The way Alexei Sayle says 'you baastard' to the luckless Spasbecker(?) The Dull after he admits to whistling on a Tuesday has always stuck in my head. It's one of those unique line deliveries that lodges in your mind. Now, whenever someone I know admits to a moral failing I can't help but say 'you baastard' in that bored/lazy way that Sayle does. They're showing Young Ones on BBC4 these days and my sisters and I happened to catch it the other day. It brought back a flood of memories as it was probably the one show of mine that they liked the most(they're a bit younger than me and I passed down my favourite albums, films and TV). Anyway, I was asking them what they thought of Rik in this Young Ones era, as I had a female friend from university who told me that RM was one of her celebrity crushes. At the time it surprised me - it seemed like such a weird choice. I suppose I was so surprised that this friend fancied him because Rik's most famous recurring role(Flashheart aside) has been as a hideous, pathetic creep whose every characteristic is chosen by Rik and Ade so as to make him sexually repellent, from the high-waisted, enormous and enormously stained grundies, to the greasy, lank hair and the constant sweating, the twitching and stammering when talking to women...yet that didn't put off my friend. And she was attractive herself. So it's always intrigued me.

Mayall really had the kavorka. I remember showing The Young Ones to a girl I used to date and when Rick first showed his spotty, sweaty face she immediately commented on how attractive he was.

Saul

The kavorka…lol Michael Richards had it too apparently, before he, well, you know. Now he just attracts the blonde types with a fondness for the motherland.

Rob Walters

Rik ordering Neil to "Lick it up, NOW!!" was subsequently quoted by my entire school if anyone spilled something..

I don't know if noticed, or if someone else here has mentioned. But that begining bit was a Dynasty parody.
