I don't think I've ever watched this before! I thought I had but I only remember the little "RRrr!" whenever he heard AHA! (Rrr!) from the trailer adverts that BBC2 would show in between programs. I think that might have put me off the show for a few years until I was old enough to enjoy I'm Alan Partridge. I wonder why it put me off... I think it was because it was so out of context and I had no interest in it. To be fair I wouldn't have been able to appreciate the layers of irony in the show at 9 years old. It just seemed a bit too grown up at the time.

"Was he the crazy guy from the end of Max & Paddy?" No, but he was the judo teacher from Back to School, Mr Bean, so you have seen him before! :) Regarding the cancelling/length of shows, it's more or less always been the British way to have shorter runs of shows, be it for budgetary reasons (some shows are indeed cut short), or the creators simply made all that they intented to (classic example being The Office; Ricky Gervais made exactly as much UK Office as he intended to, maybe moreso with the special). At least as far as comedy shows are concerned, anyway. The other extreme is UK soap operas, which are never off the bloody air!

This is great but its unfortunate that these episodes seem to be quite badly cut up.

Alan Partridge did manage to get on TV again, more recently, co-hosting a show called “This Time” may be worth putting on the poll. 🙂

I never ever want to go to Tahiti.

I see that someone else has mentioned that you are watching a slightly trimmed down version. Annoying but no big deal! :) One other thing that is missing is when Alan says about ordering room service, he mentioned that Roger Moore apparently stole some towels from the hotel when he was staying there the previous week. It is only a minor thing, but will pay off next episode ;) (unless they edit that bit out too XD). Really glad you are enjoying this, man!

Knowing Me Knowing You was originally a radio show, which is also brilliant - some bits are the same but quite a lot of it is different. Still one of my favourite radio series of all time!

Yes. Same as The Day Today was (I think that may have been Partridge's 1st ever appearance). There were 6 audio episodes which are still very funny; and have different content from the TV series for the most part.

I remember in the '90s Fawlty Towers was oft regarded as the 'best sitcom'; at 12 episodes only. Seemed that had a lot of influence on writers like Gervais to make shows that never outstayed their welcome / ran out of steam.

@Josh Episode 1: https://youtu.be/_ahVCC11r1g and youtube should suggest them in sequence. Presumably not suitable for reaction and was broadcast before the TV series so I don't think there'd be any harm you listening to them now or in the mmidst of this TV version reaction. Might be good. You're obviously enjoying the TV series so I'm sure you'd enjoy the radio too

Really good to see this show after so long. As a few people have mentioned, I do seem to remember mention of Roger Moore stealing towels from the hotel in the first episode, and the actor being impotent in this one, hence Mr Floppy. Great to see you enjoying Alan Partridge again.

Also mention of stuff that comes up in I'm Alan Partridge, like owls, his failing marriage, mention of Fernando
