this is england and trainspotting will be an intersting react to say the least great films but never saw you react to something not a comedy josh.

Always meant to watch This Is England.

Sam Reeves

Be interested to see your This Is England reaction. One of the best British films ever made but not an easy watch by any means.

Tony Smyth

That's a great lineup. I'm delighted to see This Is England up there. (There's 3 spin off TV series that are well worth checking out. Same characters, different time periods. Only 3 unfortunately, but hey!)

Ash Jeffries

Despite this being a comedy reaction channel predominantly, I am also really looking forward to your reactions to the more serious This Is England and Trainspotting. Both excellent films in their own way but they're pretty hard-hitting, This Is England especially I think. I adore Shane Meadows' writing though, and the TV series follow ups of This is England '86, '88, and '90 are even better than the film IMHO. There's just more time to explore the characters I suppose, but that doesn't take away from how great the film is in its own right. Trainspotting is iconic and wonderful and shocking and dark in places but it has some lighter moments. It's *very* 90s-UK aesthetic, stylistically but notably driven by its memorable and frozen-in-time soundtrack. I'm not fussed by the comedy choices this time around but The Naked Gun 2.5 is amusing enough I guess!

Nice to see some actual great films being voted here (Trainspotting and This Is England) Bean and Johnny English however awful films

NEXUS

Meh... Trainspotting only then for me.

Wow. Surprised to see This is England make the cut. That is an incredible movie. Still hoping for Withnail & I one day.

Tony Smyth

And hey, let us not overlook the FACT that This Is England and Trainspotting have two of the top two BEST SOUNDTRACKS EVER.

I seriously doubt you will get trainspotting lol maybe with subtitles lol

Great results this month, looking forward to seeing them all!

Lee

This is England is probably one of the best films I have seen. Really hard hitting though, there’s very little comedy in that one!

Anonymous

Yes, trainspotting made it! 😎👍

Ste_UTB

Look forward to this is England and trainspotting even though they are not comedies at all so be prepared! For this is England you will want to Google UK skinhead subculture before watching and for trainspotting the Scottish accents may need subtitles

Three great films in there... and Johnny English :P Like most of the other commenters, really looking forward to This is England - such a unique film with some incredible performances and a banging soundtrack! And as mentioned above, Josh you should read up on the British skinhead scene before watching to really understand the time the movie was set in - a very interesting but turbulent time in modern British culture and history.

I'd say Trainspotting is a very dark comedy but This Is England definitely isn't one

Mike B

looking forward to re-watching This is England with you, havent' seen it since the year it first came out.

Kieran B

Some heavy stuff there, This is England is great but can be a rough watch. A lot of it was filmed near me. Stephen Graham is an incredible actor though, always enjoy listening to his interviews on podcasts and whatnot.

If you this is england, then you should watch the tv show, as well

Anonymous

This is England has got some brilliant actors in

Anonymous

I feel like when you watch this is England you have to be very mature It's very deep set real

Joe

There's 3 series based on different times. This is England: 86' , 88' and 90'. Arguably more hard hitting than the movie is.

Anonymous

Im very surprised Paul hasn't been a movie yet

Joe S

You can’t have seen This Is England then? It’s brilliant

Anonymous

Johnny English reborn? Really guys? 🤦‍♂️ Lol, not sure about these choices, this is England not a bit dark for this channel? Good film but not many laughs I wouldn’t have thought?

Mick Mills

Can't please all of the people all of the time. Glad Trainspotting made the list though and will be fun to watch Naked Gun 2 1/2 again after so long. Hopefully next month some satire makes the cut, 'Death of Stalin' or 'In The Loop' would be good.

Why do Americans get the date the wrong way round? It's Day-Month-Year in every country apart from the US!

Mick Mills

Hehe. Its actually a remnant from the British empire. The Brits moved toward the European style of dd/mm/yyyy the Yanks kept the old colonial format. So, I guess us Brits are to blame for that.

Lee

Agreed 100%, only 11 episodes in total in the 3 series so it won’t take long for Josh to go through

Tony Smyth

'Death of Stalin' or 'In The Loop' would be BRILLIANT, but slow down on the ol' Annanuci there Mick. I'm not sure they're ready for it yet.

Tony Smyth

Dinnae be fretting aboot it ye wee bam. 'Til be a brae bran nocht de nicht it aw hoppens.

Jack Veazey

Trainspotting will be a good one. I've not seen it before, but I've only heard good things about it from others

Wow, those two middle films, This Is England and Trainspotting are very much different vibes to what I’m used to seeing you watch Josh, both fantastic, fantastic movies, I’ll enjoy watching them, hopefully you do too

After watching the this is England film I suggest getting into the series which are called “This is England 86, this is England 88 and this is England 90” short series but absolutely brilliant, both funny and heartbreaking.

The piano music in derek is from the same guy that is in this in England. He is a genius
