Spoiler Free:  This was a hilarious episode this dude is ridiculous lmao.

Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!!    Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!!Spoiler Alert !!!! Spoiler Alert !!!! Spoiler Alert !!!! Spoiler Alert !!!! Spoiler Alert !!!!

When he went to the office and lied to everyone about the show I was like wow this dude is out of his mind. This is going to be terrible and hilarious later on in the episode, then he immediately made it worse by firing everyone for goofy shit lol. Nothing he did with the firing made sense, how was it easier to say you all still have jobs, proceed to fire individuals for silly stuff and lock yourself in your office and fire everyone via speakerphone lmao. When that dude was in the bedroom talking I was thinking dude you are in there just shut up lol. When he told his assistant if she thinks she can upstage Jill by wearing her snazzy cardigan she was greatly mistaken, that was cold-blooded lmao. This dude is fantastic and I look forward to the next episode.

Thanks for watching folks !!! Hopefully, you all are happy, safe, and healthy !!

Michael

Nice shirt I recently added Halloween to a list of movies i wanted to watch, more specifically john carpenter movies. Not seen it yet though look forward to it

In the bedroom scene at the end, the writers and director felt they had to establish pretty quickly that it was chocolate on their faces, before the audience jumped to the wrong conclusion. Apologies if you've just eaten...

Kieran B

When he’s talking in bed he asks if she minds him talking as it helps him “keep the wolf from the door so to speak” The outtakes of him and Michael talking when he’s covered in mousse are worth a watch, short but perhaps a good one for YouTube now you’ve seen the episode https://youtu.be/qJ5CdJwKNI8 You’ve seen Jill briefly in Shaun of the Dead, she was the mum of the other group they pass

I love Alan Partridge, such a great character that you love to hate 😂 The reason that Alan couldn’t sack his team head on is because he’s a bit of a coward and a bully. Steve Coogan has created some really great characters but Alan is my favourite, Paul and Pauline Calf are great too. Great shirt by the way, I love Hall🎃ween

Michael Harrop

Steve Coogan is only 32 here, they age Alan up to be older, which I part of why I think the character has lasted so long. Coogan has been able to play him for 2 decades as this middle aged pedant, obsessing about minor inconveniences 😂

Great reaction, Josh! :-D "Chocolate Mousse from a bowl is very nice but to put it on a person is demented!" is one of my favourite Partridge lines! The next episode, "Watership Alan" is the best series 1 episode IMHO, but as with Fawlty Towers, they're all excellent in truth! :-D

Manly Stump

My brother and I often say "You've got it on the valance! The skirt thing round the side of the bed!" to each other

Kieran

Great reaction Josh! Glad to see you're enjoying something which I've always had the impression is so culturally British that it wouldn't translate. For a bit more context, there is a generation of now 30 and 40 year olds who watched this religiously in the late 90s/early noughties to the point of reciting every single line at school, at college, at the pub, at work. In fact to this day I still sing 'It started with a kiss...' (the song Alan plays in that final scene) regularly at my confused wife (who was one of the few not to watch Alan Partridge back then). The 2 series are up there with the all time British classics that you have already watched, hope you enjoy the rest!

I've never watched any full episodes of Alan Partridge before so it's a first for me. Really like it so far :D I've obviously missed out. Love your Halloween t shirt Josh, the original film is still one of my favourite horror films 🎃🗡

man i love these new shows and their world shout outs to Josh and all the fans who recommended such good shows

Kieran B

Same here, have a few friends where you can almost have a brief converse in Partridge references, or at least find a call back to Partridge one way or another

Two episodes in and Josh get’s to the nub of Alan Partridge - “What the f**k is wrong with him?” :)

Hi Josh if you want a good representation of the Geordie dialect given that over the course of this you'll hear quite a bit of it, may I recommend Buzzcocks smash ya pastie it a pretty solid 3 minute listen

This is actually Tay's shirt lol. She got a bigger size on accident so I wear it sometimes. It is comfortable though and a cool design. Halloween is for sure a classic though and worth checking out.

Awesome, hope you enjoy it! It is hilarious so far and so goofy. Thank you it is actually Tay's shirt she ordered the wrong size so I have been wearing it. Halloween is for sure a classic.

I think the most fundamental word that sums up alan is 'naff'. And I think appreciating the comedy in this show comes down to whether the viewer grew up with comedy that made fun of the naff. Brits instinctively understand what the word 'naff' means, whereas I don't really think naffness is a comedic thing in America, so there might be a bit of a gap that Josh might have to overcome before getting into Alan Partridge. Americans don't tend to be naff: they can be tasteless, but naff is different. Naff is not just tasteless - it's also pathetic and crap, and laughable in a tragic way. The American version of naff, on the other hand, is Trump with his gold toilets; American naff is just as tasteless as Alan but maybe the difference is that it doesn't care: it's not secretly concerned about how people see it, like Alan is. American naffness is brash, and confident despite being the butt of jokes for its tastelessness. British naffness however, is just crap, bitter and insecure. I'm wondering if these are reasons why Alan Partridge has never been quite as huge in America as other British classic comedies I can think of: the concept of naffness doesn't really exist outside of Britain.

Michael

i understand your entire point and its basically the usual main difference between british and american comedy. everything except the word 'naff'. I've got no idea wtf you're talking about when you say naff and im from the UK. when something is 'naff' it usually means its something that's shitty. at least thats what i know Naff to mean

Saul

Naff: British, informal. : lacking in style or good taste : vulgar and unfashionable
