There's something oddly sweet and profound around Karl's view of the world. I hadn't actually seen Sick of It until Josh started watching it, and I already like it more than anything Ricky Gervais has done recently.

It's so much better than After Life; more honest, less mawkish and not brimming with smug, overblown, would-be profundity like After Life is. He doesn't use the "c" word as a running gag either in place of wit or vaguely inspired dialogue which Gervais evidently couldn't resist. Karl didn't promote the show readily or all that effectively and it's a shame as I think it's superb TV and deserves far more recognition.
