Ice Cyclops Subjugation
The next morning, guided by Snowelter, we were led to the lair of the Ice Cyclops.
As we proceeded, frost began to descend on the ground, and the temperature dropped rapidly.
It seems the temperature around the Ice Cyclops decreases, just as Melanie mentioned.

Continuing forward, the trees eventually cleared.
Peering beyond, we saw a giant on the other side of the frozen river, feasting on something.
With its pale blue skin, it was probably devouring wild animals that lived in this forest. Now, what should we do?

(That's it. That's the Ice Cyclops.)

"That seems to be the case. It matches the records in the Adventurers’ Guild."

"I see... By the way, Melanie, what kind of powerful attack magic could work from this distance?"

"Hmm, that's a tough one. Naturally, water and ice wouldn't work, and the ground would be frozen too far to reach. Wind wouldn't likely reach due to the cold, and I think fire would be the same."

"So, lightning?"

"That's probably the best option. However, since it has high resistance, and we haven't confirmed if there are allies nearby, we have to be cautious and use lower-powered spells."

"So, it's mostly melee combat then..."

"Well, with the Wildcat Claws’ equipment, you should be fine."

I hope so...

Anyway, the plan is set.
Tomoa and I will take the initiative with lightning magic attacks, while everyone else closes in to finish it off at once.
It's crucial to take down each one individually to avoid calling for reinforcements.
Alright, let's begin!

“”Thunderbolt!””

"SQUE!?"

Our Thunderbolts hit the Ice Cyclops, slowing its movements.
Both attacks successfully landed.
Yes!

In that moment, the rest of our group rushed forward, closing the distance with the Ice Cyclops.
Once they got close enough, Talat tried to entangle it with his thread... but the thread froze and shattered into pieces!
It’s freezing Talat’s thread!?

It seems the Ice Cyclops chose Talat as its target and swung a giant sword made of ice toward him!
However, Keuko intervened, allowing Talat to escape successfully.
But even Keuko seemed to be struggling to withstand the Ice Cyclops's attacks.
Her body was being pushed back more and more.
Then, Alizée and Uhiha jumped in, managing to push the Ice Cyclops back.
It was quite dangerous.

The battle continued with back and forth.
The Ice Cyclops's sword could even block Keuko’s sword and couldn't be cut through.
Uhiha focused on defense, while Akumi and Alizée attacked when they saw openings, but it wasn't enough for a fatal blow.
Is there any good method…?
Yes, that method!

"Talat, can you wrap easily flammable spider silk around the Ice Cyclops's sword?"

(I can, but it'll freeze quickly, you know?)

"It's okay as long as you can wrap it! I will handle the rest! Once you've wrapped it, immediately cut it off!"

(Got it. I'll do it then!)

Talat shot out his thread and wrapped the spider silk around the Ice Cyclops's sword.
Although it began to freeze from where it was wrapped, it hadn't shattered yet.
Now's our chance!

"Grand Napalm!"

I unleashed a magic spell that would normally turn the ground into a scorched field onto the spider silk.
The flame traveled along the spider silk and transferred onto the Ice Cyclops's sword from the part that hadn't shattered yet.

And then...

(SQUEEEEEALGH!?)

The Ice Cyclops's sword burst into flames and melted away.
We did it! The plan succeeded!

While the sword was being incinerated, the Ice Cyclops's arm got burnt too.
Before it could create a new sword, Keuko beheaded it.
Alright, the first one's down!

Now we have to search for others like it and defeat them.
This might be quite tough...
