Catastie Day 5: At a Clothing Store
Following the old man's instructions, we ended up in a shopping district not meant for tourists but for the residents of this town.
The shop I was looking for seemed to be in the central part of this shopping district.
The atmosphere here was completely different from elsewhere.
It was a bit more subdued, lacking in vitality.
I wonder if it's because this town is bustling with outsiders, or if this shopping district itself isn't doing well financially.

As we walked through the shopping district, we reached a clothing store just before the center.
It's definitely the shop with the sign indicating it's a clothing store.
We promptly entered through the gate.

"Welcome. Oh my, it's rare to see a customer who's not from this town."

Inside the shop was an old woman.
According to her, she runs this shop alone.
Her children are each doing more profitable jobs elsewhere.
I wonder if the business situation of this shop isn't very good?

After declining the old woman's offer to introduce the items, we decided to take a look around the store.
The store had everything from children's clothes to men's and women's wear.
They all seemed to be second-hand rather than new, but... there was something that caught my attention.
Many of the women's clothes had embroidery on them.
Since these embroideries haven't faded, I assume they were added here at this shop.
There were various patterns, from floral designs to checkered patterns and even intricate ones.
But why?

"Oh, those clothes? They lack a certain charm if left as they were. That's why I added the embroidery."

"But, it must have been quite difficult to embroider the same pattern on all these clothes, right?"

"That's my secret, dear."

Hmm, embroidering so many vibrant patterns must have required considerable effort.
Yet, the prices weren't that high.
In that case, the technique involved might be...?

"Magic embroidery?"

"Oh my, you got it. You guessed it quite well."

"Well, yes. I know a thing or two about it.”

'Magic embroidery is a technique similar to 'magic tailoring' that adds certain embroideries.
However, I didn't know the conditions to learn it when I used to play the game.
It's quite unexpected to encounter it here.

"How did you know about that kind of knowledge?"

"I can use Magic tailoring. That's why I also knew about the existence of magic embroidery."

"I see. But, you need to learn Magic embroidery, then. It's a matter of fate whether you meet it or not. Would you like to learn Magic embroidery? I'll teach you."

"What!? Is that okay!?"

"What's the harm? I'm just an old lady running a shop for fun. I plan to close it down in a few years anyway. I just want to leave behind my skills for future generations."

"Thank you so much!"

Learning the method of Magic embroidery was very similar to Magic tailoring.
You imbue the embroidery with magic while using a specific pattern.
If you can successfully transfer that embroidery to a finished garment, then you've succeeded.
Until then, it's just practice.
It seems you can also get the patterns from the Trade Guild, so I'll have more to try out when I return to Vardmoi!

I bought various items from the store as samples for embroidery and as a token of gratitude for being taught a new technique.
It's only natural to spend this much when receiving something like that.
Rather, it cost less than I expected, but she wouldn't accept any more money than the cost of the goods.
Now, I'll return to the hotel and consult with Alizée about various things.
