On this edition of The Book, David Crockett and Conrad continue their detailed look back at Jim Crockett Promotions in 1985, as they go day-by-day through the original booking logs from June '85!

In the heat of the summer of 1985, Jim Crockett Promotions sparks up the feud between the NWA World Champion Ric Flair and Magnum T.A.. The crowds will get a taste of potentially what’s to come, not just at the live events, but also on national television on TBS. JCP will announce the latest Dusty Rhodes’ creation in the first ever ‘Great American Bash’, a supershow scheduled to take place the following month, involving country music, skydivers, fireworks, and will also bring in The Road Warriors to take on the Russians. As the month comes to a close, JCP will make it’s debut in the City of Angels, at the Olympic Auditorium, with a huge show that caps off one of the biggest days in JCP history that also introduces their TBS television audience to the tag team of The Midnight Express, and of course, their manager Mr. Jim Cornette. And while June 29 was a huge day for JCP, the very next day will be even bigger for Dusty, who will rush home from LA to be with his wife, as they welcome their son Cody into the world.

David is confusing 1985 and 1986. 1985 was the first year for the Great American Bash and it was a single event. The Rock and Roll Express didn’t start with JCP until late Summer and the Super Summer Sizzler Tour didn’t happen until 1986, not in 1985.
