*LONG-LIVED HEADPHONE WARNINGS*

This episode tugs at the heart strings SO hard, as we connect the concept of memory, relationships, and how "nothing lasts forever," but that doesn't mean it's not worth protecting or fighting for...however, will that mentality separate our freshly formed fab four?!

I'm not going to lie...I might not be able to wait for Episode 17...

Now that we have seen another dwarf we know Eisen's look isn't a dwarf thing, it's just a Eisen thing. We see how precious Firerens memories of Himmel are when Voll asks if she remembers him, it seems that Fireren is genuinely offended by the idea/"accusation" that she might forget him. And at that point she hasn't really caught on to that Voll is really losing his memory and just thinks he is joking, so she might not have even considered that really happening. I also wonder if Himmel at that moment in the flashback, when he realises the implication of Voll having a human wife, decides not to romantically pursue Frieren? Thinking it would only lead to heartache down the road? With Voll so bound by his promise that he has protected this town for over 400 years when dwarves usually only lives to 300, and with what Frieren is going through now, that doesn't seem that far off. This show does seem to make the case against interspecies relationships, atleast for those with wildly varying lifespans... so sorry, no elves, dwarves, vampires or demi-gods/goddesses as lovers for us lowly humans. When they met Kraft he mentioned that no one longer remember his heroic deeds from long ago, and with Frieren not knowing him or what he did, his deeds might be from thousands of years before she was even born. That makes the chance of Kraft's friend (or romantic partner 😉), as a human, having a very slim chance of being remembered up to this day. I just think spells are very specific in this world, we saw Frieren learn a spell for bronze statues, a stone statue? Sorry you need a whole other spell for that.

""This show does seem to make the case against interspecies relationships, atleast for those with wildly varying lifespans..." I don't know, I think pursuing relationships with your mind already looking at how they'll end it's a backwards way to go about it, that kind of thinking would bring somebody be like Frieren at the start of the show: "Why should I care about these people if I know I'm going to lose them?". If anything, to me the message is 'don't avoid bonds just because they'll end, enjoy them to the fullest because they'll be gone before you know it'. No relationship lasts forever because no person lasts forever but it doesn't mean the love at the time wasn't real. The show can take it to an extreme since it's a fantasy but it's just as true in real life I think.

Yay, finally, the grandpa episode! :D Real comment later. Also, relationships in Frieren make me think of "Highlander". Tv series, not the movie. I don't remember the movie, but the tv series is my childhood. and... who wants to live forever? indeed. But it's better to have love and lost, etc...
