Intro/outtro So Frieren got the message from both her master, and her master’s master, on how humans have to make their time matter more, and even was on the side of “that’s something to be excited for,” and /still/ missed out on Himmel’s courting. And, yeah, seems that elves evolved as a race with an inclination towards poker faces, because that “on a whim” was doing some heavy lifting.

I loved this episode and hated it at the same time. Amazing episode all around but the plan was so good the battle felt anticlimactic. But even that part of it fits in with the story they was telling.

I got the same feeling that the battle was anticlimactic and based on how the story has not made me feel this way before I do not believe that the battle is over yet but I could be wrong who knows.

apparently unintentionally nerfed the next generation of mages in terms of combat experience too, such as edel was talking how having no dungeons to clear affected mages' spell selection. reaaaally shouldda saved some stuff for others lol

The surpassing of the previous generation doesn't apply here. That is a generic shonen jump thing. Frieren is literally an Elf that lives up to 10,000 years. The concept of surpassing the master does not apply when the master will live multiple of your lifetimes after you are dead. Sometimes you guys bring in shonen jump cliche stuff into anime that aren't the typical cliche.

Although yeah its expected that for them specifically they will be incredible in being a mage and being a warrior because they technically have the best teachers this world can offer. Its just the whole surpassing the previous generation doesn't apply when a dwarf and an elf live multiple upon multiple generations lol

I think that the anime is pointing out in this episode that humans have a much stronger will to be stronger. They use their time much more efficiently than Elves or Dwarves, which allows them to be on the level of those races to a certain extent. They can surpass Elves, but only if they have the drive and inherent skill to do so.

Yeah that is definitely what is being pointed out. They have the ability to surpass elves due to their efficiency and drive which can be contributed to their smaller lifespans which Elves don't have to worry about so they tend to take forever in doing everything and anything. My comment was referencing a single generation and that generation being fern and stark. The whole surpassing of a generation doesn't apply here. I would have to type a lot in order to explain where I was coming from but I know what the anime pointed out. That isn't what I am implying. I will just leave it at that though.
