I am just laughing as there are too many animes that you aren't even watching at all. This fall anime season is too stacked with good anime, but you making top 5 for only animes you know isn't bad choice.

This is going to sound like I'm chastising you but I promise I'm not. I don't like the reductionist view of Goblin Slayer generally speaking. It's no particular fault of anyone's either because it's the prevailing view point from most watchers, casual or otherwise, but it sucks to see people missing out on the true value of the show because they think that the goblin slaying or D&D inspiration is the heart of the show when it's not. In fact, it's window dressing at best. So naturally, if you think the window dressing is the meat then you're going to be disappointed. The show is about Goblin Slayer reclaiming his humanity. And outside of Goblin Slayer, in the characters around him, it's about trauma. There's almost always subtext to every piece of dialogue. Without spoiling for other people, the greatest impacts on me from any anime this season have all come from Goblin Slayer. The moment with him in the back alley, the moment with him on the bridge with friends having a particular conversation, seeing a certain character off and acting "out of character" in the more recent episode. That's the stuff that sticks with me and that I think about. Idc about the goblin slaying or D&D after the fact either. But those character moments hit me. To be fair though, the series does resonate really well with me and where I'm at in my life's journey. Not everyone is on the same path or at the same point in their journey so it wouldn't be right to blame others for not feeling that resonance themselves. I just wanted to make it a little more clear that it really isn't about the surface level stuff. The show is fantastic because of the character depth, imo.
