To be fair, that's his mother. Cutting contact with her not knowing how long they'll be doing this is crazy, like yeah it's dangerous but if you had super close ones especially depending on the circumstances, alot of people wouldn't be able to stay away. Btw if you go back to episode 1 you notice that John basically said he wasn’t wanted anywhere else. From that and episode 2 where he says we won’t fail. I think this is was the only job that wanted him and he’s probably doing this to help his mom. All speculation! I love how alive and real these characters feel, they have their odd qualities and moments, but also natural and unique moments as well.

Triggered twice this episode lol Sheera yelling "this is what niggas do," I almost thought I was arguing with my ex again, had me bout to cuss out my screen lol then Jane sending all them texts 😂 John tripping for having taken the job knowing he wasn't about to cut ties with his old life, but people do crazy shit for money everyday especially when they feel like they don't have any other options so I think it makes the character more relatable and drives home how Jane is the brains and John is the heart.

Im black, I snowboard, I also live in Denver with easy access to mountains. Black people may not be one of the wealthiest in the country but we have incredible buying power. So we can allocate our money to going skiing but culturally we probably don't want too. besides the "oh black people don't ski." we also say "oh thats white people shit." which we apply to skiing or anything that a majority of white people do, while skiing isn't cheap its still not impossible to do especially with it being now easier today to get affordable rental gear etc. also Majority of black people are in the south or east. Not alot of black people can be found in Denver. trust me not alot of us here lol

I know 3 black people that can barely ski: two coworkers and myself. I made it down the Village Run at Northstar at Lake Tahoe (417ft drop over a little less than a mile downhill) and only fell 3 times! My legs were complete jello after ski school for 2 hours and that run. I was DONE! 😂

Sheera and Lupa were wayyyy too emotional this episode. While it is dangerous to keep your family in contact , I still think it’s important to understand why he still made that choice. Plus I feel like John keeps his mom at a safe distance. I feel like any person would a heart would at least try to make it work especially if you’re the only person they have left. Also It’s easier to make the decision to cut yourself off from your family when your relationship is non existent in the first place so Jane doesn’t quite understand why John did what he did

Lying on the resume is not the issue. It's simply the nature of this job and the fact that John's mother does not have the privilege of knowing what is going on. It's quite selfish on his part, considering how dangerous his job is. It's true that "HiHi" would know that he's calling her. They're probably monitoring every phone call in real time. The thing is, now he's created a trail. She's a part of the game now and she doesn't even know it. So now all it takes is for John to say the wrong thing just once and it could be over. And that could become a challenge later on since, unlike the other people they've slipped up with, his mother is someone who is personal to him. He might be more inclined to really mess up with someone that close to him, especially when he wasn't wise enough not to tangentially involve her in the first place. That is why it is best not to involve someone that vulnerable to you. Beforehand, his mom had nothing to do with this. Now he's given them a sufficient enough reason to regularly monitor her. That's not good. They wouldn't have had to do that because beforehand she personally had no ties to it. The company is not going to waste unnecessary resources on monitoring every person you have a relationship with, but if you give them a reason they will.
