Gesicht is from Germany, Mont Blanc is from Switzerland. This anime is a reinterpretation of an Astro Boy arc, and Atom who you saw at the end is Astro Boy himself, in Japan he has always been called Atom.

Tried to describe Pluto to a friend when I suggested it. I said it was Astro Boy meets True Detective meets BladeRunner (moreso 2049). Like, it has a lot of things that may be familiar or well tread within the genre, but it’s all done with such an excellent eye for ethos and pathos and written with nuanced characters and ever relevant themes, and featuring the best animation and music and voice acting etc, that by the end it’s something wholly and uniquely original. Wish more people gave it a chance.

I was super invested in the second half of this. I love stories that have to deal with AI, like vivy, and Detroit become human. It’s always neat how we humanize and can empathize with robots, but that’s only due to the amazing writing so far. Can’t wait for more

Europol handles international and organized crime in the entire European Union. “Polizei” is German, but Germany, Austria, and Switzerland all speak various dialects of German. If the detective isn’t just country-hopping (very possible, to be fair; Western Europe is mad small in terms of surface area, pretty much all of Germany and half of every country surrounding it fits inside of Texas alone 😅), then they’re likely in Switzerland since that’s where the Mont Blanc case happened. But yeah — I’ve never read it, but Pluto is (genuinely, no cap) essentially Astro Boy fanfic.

In regards to why they don't just back up their data to make a new one; I feel like it is to simulate a human life. These robots have whole lives, jobs, spouses. I think it is so they can be as close to human as possible. At least that is the way I think about why they wouldn't back up memory and make a new copy of their self.

Nah honestly the sub is kinda falling a bit flat in the first episode. Delivery is okay for most characters, even if the japanese actors struggle with non japanese words, but the translation is whack. Dialogue feels unnatural like it's machine translated.

😂😭 Astro Boy fanfic is a wild, but you’re actually - essentially - right. Lol. It’s interesting how conceptually fanfics can be all manner of successful. Fifty Shades of Grey is a notorious and awful yet successful fanfic of Twilight, Pluto is a thoroughly wonderful love letter to Astro Boy, and some people say critically acclaimed works like The Name of the Wind have its roots as a Harry Potter fanfic. It just makes you wonder what other works are out there that are more or less revised fanfics, though I suppose few are as blatant (yet great) as Pluto.

As for why they don't just upload robots brains to the cloud its the same as why we can't rlly download ppls brains. What they keep on the cloud would be just a copy, sure u could rebuild mont blanc with this copy but the original died when his "brain" was destroyed, it' wouldn't actually be him. Like if I download my brain and put the downloaded copy into a clone it's not like I'm in the cloned body, just a perfect copy of who I was at the moment the copying was done.

Monster is a classic and that alone brings a bunch of viewers. Semblance of sanity reactions to it were great. The reaction formula is very simple, if people like it, they will watch it. It is not about animation. I am very sure there are a lot of patreons and subscribers that would love to see it but we keep getting nonsense brainless shonens and whatnot just because it is what is airing and unfortunately most people watching reactions are young in general so that is what they demand. However like I said, Monster would do very well too. Also, they are already a very successful channel and they can choose not to always chase what is the most views-efficient show to react and they definitely should do a favor to themselves and watch some of the older and more mature classics

Are you replying to me? If so, not only do i think that the actual demographic of people who watch that stuff in the usa is very different and much younger than those who watch anime in japan. But i also believe that the amount of high school focus shows and movies still doesn't match up to the sheer amount that is in Japanese media. Also, you could just research this; on how the japanese might view adult life vs the americans might view it. Like on reddit or some shit.
