rewatched the movie just in anticipation for this. there was also a 90s tv series apparently that is seemingly "unrelated" but its the same title and premise. its closer to this show than the movie cause in the movie they dont know each other are spies and work for different companies and the movie is about what do they do when they find out each other's secret. vs the 90s show and this they are both spies working for the same company pretending to be a married couple

spot on roshi! that is brad and angelina in the beginning. at the end of their movie they were supposed to kill each other but defected so their companies went after them but they took out all the foot soldiers and thats how it ends. so most likely they went into hiding after that

I would recommend Archive 81, Black Summer, or Flatbush Misdemeanors but they've been canceled but some fire shows too nonetheless.

I absolutely clocked that thing as a bomb as soon as they got on the train and even more so when they tried the misdirect with it being "just" a cake. That's classic spy shit to the point it gets parodied in Palm Springs. As for why the first lady had it, there are several possible scenarios. She could work for the same agency and is evaluating them. She could be another recruit and this was a way to test her and the Smiths at the same time. She could be from a rival agency with similar goals but the Smith's agency wanted credit. Or it's compartmentalization, having multiple hand offs makes it harder to track the bombs origins, and the Smiths were more disposable and/or it gives the lady plausible deniability
