That Monologue was amazing

Yehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

xtina

sydcarmy we up

DestructoDiscman

Syd and Carmy rightfully taking it at the golden globes last night. Excited for you guys to get to S2. As much as I like the S1, 2 is where is really kicks into high gear

Carlos

Honeydew, Fishes, and Forks are my favorite episodes of the entire series.

J Man

Yo! The beginning is just a cooking version of Bray Wyatt's Firefly Funhouse. Complete with the random static.

Devin B

It's funny how you mentioned how jacked Carmy is because he's in that new movie Iron Claw with Zac Effron and I was surprised that he was that jacked

DestructoDiscman

All 3 are unbelievably good, and so tonally different. Amazing run or episodes and acting

Robert

People have been thirsting over his recent Calvin Klein ads. He’s ripped.

Url Robbo

Intro been out for so long and I’m just noticing the Gurren Lagaan

Michael Pamon

Can’t wait for the reaction to 2x6

Devin B

Bro people were thirsting on him back in his Shameless days but this is a different level of thirsting

Michael Pamon

Yeah I didn’t realize that Marcus was played by Lionel either until someone pointed it out on Twitter. Him, Jasper and Taco are having amazing post-OF careers.

JJ

I knew JAW had potential since shameless man that show was wild

ThunderousMacabre

Hairstyle lookin’ kinda fire on lupa

Cameron Smith

Season 1 anger/rage, season 2 frustration can’t wait

Alejandro Rodriguez

goddamn i love that monologue and watching them react to it rlly makes me want them to react to bojack horseman, i feel like y’all would love that shit.

Metweet .c

I think Mikey was gona kill himself regardless. Most suicidal people will PLAN like for a long time for when they leave. He probably had it in his calendar with how much he saved for Carmy

Mellow.grizzly

Nigga how tf did he get all that money into the cans ? The cans were sealed shut

Skye Brooklyn

sheera was right about the fire and him hesitating

Hunter

There ain't no way y'all recorded through this storm, I'm on the opposite coast of y'all and it was windy as hell at work, we aren't getting rain till about an hour from now.

Devin B

This episode just proved to me that Carmy should listen to Richie more often because he was this close to opening the cans in episode 1 when Richie told him to make spaghetti

DestructoDiscman

Everyone rightfully points out how good that Carmy monologue is, but man shout out the actor who plays Richie as well. The acting in the car scene is so good (he's also killer in Andor, which I really hope they react to eventually. Best Star Wars show)

Anonymous

Season 1 phenomenal Season 2 LITERALLY TURNING THE 🔥 UP

araybia

michael was an addict and was most likely depressed. it wasn’t about the money per se, it was about everything in total and it got to the point where he couldn’t handle all of those overwhelming issues that’s why he killed himself. season 2 is peak y’all are really going to enjoy it.

Brandin Williams

I keep forgetting the guy that plays Richie played in season 1 of punisher which is funny that him and Jon( Michael) play best friends on here.

Jazhiel Diaz-Rosa

Season 2 is a lot better. I can’t wait for y’all to experience it

User100

Yo I love this show so much!!!!

Alex

What lupa talking about with the twitter?

Oni Legend

Aye yall gotta leave Sheera alone about the food lmao she said “niggas think i don’t eat anything”. But that Sheeragan came in when she caught what Mikey’s idea must’ve been to leave the money and restaurant for Carmy so he can do what he wants with it because he’s ultimately proud of him And mannnn the amount of things this episode did for showing grief and just Carmy’s character as a whole. Like this entire season for someone who’s as dedicated to food as he is, we never see Carmy share any real excitement or joy over it like Syd and Marcus do and the monologue kind of explains that beyond the abusive stuff in New York, its also just the fact that Carmy’s cooking and skill was just an expression of how hurt he was that Mikey cut him out. Like just all the emotions he expressed in that monologue and you can see him thinking of good times, some parts of resentment, some of his self esteem issues, like EVERYTHING that Carmy’s been holding in for the past 8 episodes and Jeremy Allen White absolutely killed that shit.

Fred_D3

Watching this again reminded me of how rictchie was tryna get carmy to make the spaghetti the entire 1st episode, & when he was about to he tossed a can of it in the bin loool

Keenan Cummins

season 2 gone be even better man cant wait W reactions

Leon

Marcus and Syd needed to apologize but season 1 was great but season 2 is even better.

Kami_Psy

He was hearing some weird noises and was basically saying if he dies Roshi gonna have to make a tweet starting with "About Lupasan"

LaTesha

Season 2 is going to hurt y'all feelings man 😭 if you though season 1 was emotional

LaTesha

I understand why Marcus is upset but at the same time he told you to stop messing with those donuts if you still are I'm going to be pissed. You responded with okay chef I understand and still kept messing with them donuts and then got pissed because he didn't want to taste them in the middle of y'all getting slammed. Carmy's response was wild but come on Marcus accountability please 🤨. But he did say he would go back and hash it out so he wasn't too mad though. With Sydney, her and Carmy need to have better communication and their interaction last episode was heated too and Carmy was being aggressive with her, but everyone on the series needs to own up to their actions. Her inpatients led to her giving out that dish and pressuring Carmy to add dishes and add this and change this without listening to Carmy about just going one step at a time. She was moving to fast and it also led to the mistake with the pre orders. Yes those were all accidents but the remarks that her referrals gave Carmy were true and everyone's flaws led to a blow up last episode.

A. P.

Sheere's point was the only issue I had as well. Carmy apologized but Syd and Marcus just got off without taking any responsibility. Callin my man a lil bitch lol foh. But glad the whole band is back together. Can't wait for S2!

Devin B

This episode was dope overall but I hated the fact that Sydney and Marcus was complaining about Carmy but didn't even reflect on what they did, I respect Carmy for being the bigger person

dawn

lupa is literally me i was saying out loud "why did they do that last shot" i was balling my eyes out BAD, also this is a good rewatch after the bear SWEEP at the golden globes yesterday truly deserved!

LaTesha

I can attest working in a kitchen is stressful i did it for 8 years. Catering and waiting tables is too much.

13

Im so excited to see their opinion on Ritchie by the end of s2 lol

Tyler

This is randomly the best first season of a show I've seen in years lol.

Robert

The bridge that Carmy dreams about I believe is meant to be the bridge where Mikey killed himself. What the bear itself represents is still ambiguous.

Kablamoo101

surprisingly Carmy talking about stuttering and being scared to talk as a kid was the first time i realised thats why i dont talk a lot

Frederick

This is an amazing first season. I was not expecting the show to be this good. Can’t wait for S2

Antonio Williams

Season two is easily one of the most beautiful seasons of any show I've seen.

Michael Pamon

Sheera was on the right track: if you guys remember from like the first or second episode, Carmy asked Ebra why was Mikey ordering so many small cans of tomatoes and not large ones. The season-long payoff is insane.

Delinda Arts

This was a great 1st season but Season 2 is just a fuckin masterpiece. Love this series so much. i hope they get 1 more season.

Robert

Yeah that was a weird scene. Fun fact, Paul Rudd was the voice of the video game character.

tany

what a great first season, can’t wait for season 2 !

Anorak

Sheera on that vinaigrette & cake diet

awwtysm

Seeing ya'll reaction to these performances has me begging on my knees for Succession PLEAAAASE

Uly A O

I loved this ending for season 1 it's honestly worthwhile to see the chaos finally subside even for a little. I agree with the trio about how Sheera talked about accountability, I think there was a lot more to go around, but it was handled very well either way. Especially the monologue cause Carmy has been holding that in ever since he took over and it needed to come out, then finding the letter was such a joy. Though I do think he was a tiny bit upset, mainly happy that all he wrote was 2 sentences, and on the back was the spaghetti recipe just kinda in disbelief and relief at the same time. If no one was there at the restaurant he could have burned the whole place down literally. In any case an excellent season.

gabriel250c .

I need them to get to season 2 because I have a theory about Michael's addiction and the reason he never spent that money but I cant say anything without spoiling

John Strickland

I had the exact same feelings after the episode such a weird writing choice they sit there talk for like 8 minutes of screen time too

Khayta

Just a heads up szn 2 has a longer ep like this one during ep 6 just wanted to make sure u guys knew since u have limited recording time :)

Desi

I wonder what yall think about people shipping carmy and syd lol

Aerospark

Omg I needed that. The show did a great job and making you feel that stress, IMO, so we needed this. Great first season

Taelor Green

I always think that the reason Michael cut Carmy off is because Michael knew that Carmy looked up to him and the last thing he wanted was for his little brother to see how far he has fallen and to see him be addicted to drugs. And I think Michael was also afraid to face Carmy which would maybe be him facing the truth that his addiction was getting out of hand. I also think Michael never let Carmy work in the restaurant because he believed Carmy could be so much better.

Henoch

They're already confirmed for a season 3 and it's also confirmed that it'll come out sometime this year although the date is TBD

SnailSpray

imo season two is even better than season 1

Cinmnapple

Syd and Marcus getting away with that is hilarious to me

metronxtdoorr

damn the character development this episode was INSANE. w season w recommendation

Zander Infinity

idk if yall remembered but in one of the early episodes Carmy asked someone "why did mike get the smaller cans?" or something and well now we know why.

Zoe

That's just how restaurants are though, You usually don't just get to quit. You have to put in a letter of resignation, be fired, or finish your contract. So them just coming back after having a breakdown in normal.

Kayla

What’s wrong w that? Pretty sure syd isn’t underage or anything, they both have a lot in common, it’s not that hard to picture tbh

PetersThimble

Sheera was definitely right about Syd and Marcus. Good characters but yeah, I totally agree that they both should have apologized but it was still a great season

James Stephenson

I'm still tripping because this show won two Emmys for comedy. A f****** comedy. Please tell me what is funny about this show 😂

rickie woodson

only saw the first episode but: the main character's cousin is insane so everything he does is funny. the immature petty fights. the bickering. the snappy dialogue.

Sekraan

People assume that a man and woman need to be romantically involved any time they spend appreciable time together in a movie, show, or book. It's annoying. Platonic relationships are a thing and also valuable.

lyssa

Excited for S2

Paulothy

There was a storm? Im on SE coast, and it didn't seem that bad other than being really windy. Although that would explain why the power was going out for entire streets...

Paulothy

I haven't seen any kind of chemistry between them, so that's an odd choice. She had more chemistry with Marcus when he came over lol

JIMBO

not only had richie giving him the letter earlier on they would have found out sooner. but remember in ep1 richie tells carmy to make family and make it the spaghetti and to make it right. then at the end of the first ep he starts opening the can of sauce but then he throws it in the trash before it cuts to black and credits roll. so he would have also found out then. idk if that can under that shelf is meant to signify that or if thats just a different can but thought might mention what i noticed

Danger Tomato

Making Marcus and the chick victims after the bs they pulled is just shit writing.

JIMBO

this show is comedy gold. the bickering & fighting between fak and richie. the cut to fighting between cisiro and richie after saying they not gonna fight in the car. the fucking xanax is one of my favourite setups and punchlines in the entire world. like we see the zoomed shot on the xanax bottle next to the oranges and subconsily know that there is a reason for that shot but we dont get it immediately explained but later in the episode we see evryone start to mellow out, everything starts to go quiet while the main cast is talking about issues and stuff. then we notice kids laying around in the back ground and even adults like carmy's brother in law. then the punchline hits of carmy finding the bottle in the ectoplasm punch with the in focus cut to evryone fucking past out. and basically is just ignored and never mentioned again and swep under the rug with the line its fine. like is that not comedy gold?. so much more in season 2 with the wall falling down while trying to keep a secret from everyone so everyone heres the secret. *not really a spoiler with that info so thought id mention that one*

Ava Nouri

I mean what also annoyed me a lot about Sydney calling out Carmy for his “shitty behavior” is that ma’am you literally stabbed someone. In a hierarchy of shitty behavior that’s pretty high up on the list. So aside of not apologizing to Carmy and taking that accountability, it annoyed me so much that she didn’t even apologize to Richie cause she was WAY out of line there.

Hunter

Yeah, massive storm sweeping through the Midwest US, West Coast of FL, swept over to East Coast and Central FL and rest of the Eastern Seaboard. Radar was going crazy

Kisuke01

Both shows got me going through emotional roller-coasters wtf 😭

Imari

She doesn’t like Marcus lol and two anytime carmy is going through a tough time he doesn’t call his sister, Richie, or his family he calls syd even in season 2 when stuff eventually went wrong he still ended up calling syd and not the love interest he had in that same season imo syd is important to him in a way that other people in his life aren’t

Makenna R

I think Mikey was very mentally ill and masked his pain with drugs, it was never really about the pressure of money (cause I believe if he was mentally okay then the management of the Beef could have actually been stable and possibly famous since people have said in the past how good he was at cooking ((maybe almost as good as Carmy)) and about himself and his self worth in his family. I think towards the end he was truly spiralling in depression and addiction that he ultimately claimed his life. In the end he was still trying to help his little brother achieve the dream they both had even if he was never there to see it.

john segun doe

BRO WE NEED SUCCESSION. It would be COMEDY GOLD!!!!!! ROSHI PLZ PUT THAT ON A POLL BRO

Nick Vaughn

100% agree that my only critique of this season was the lack of accountability on Syd and Marcus’s part. Other than that, this first season for me was a solid 9/10. Season 2 definitely provides some context for Michael and just their whole family which I’m excited for y’all to see

Majin buussin

😂 it’s so true it hurts, I can’t tell you how many times my staff has walked out on a mental breakdown and then us both walking in to work next day smiling and laughing at each other. Also that Marcus head nod is my move🤣

Jaelyn Mcgee

Yeah from episode one I was hooked on Andor and it's a short series so I think they could knock it out pretty fast

Jaelyn Mcgee

Bojack is a great series, but it's definitely one of those you need a palate cleanser after watching just cause of how depressing it gets

Twin Hallow

I 100% think jealousy was a part of not giving him the note.

Fizzy

Nah we need a bojack horsemen reaction somewhere down the line

poisonivybag

This was INCREDIBLE. I cannot wait for season 2.

Lurkingposter

OK. What I don't get about the money is don't they still owe all that money to their uncle?

Khayta

I’m BEGGING you guys! PLEASE on the YouTube edit add the Jeremy Allen White Calvin Klein ad for jokes!!! 😭 idk maybe the intro or sum

PeanutButterButterpop

Carmy would have found the money when he first got the restaurant but he didn’t want to make the spaghetti and ended up changing the menu.

Robert

This will be explained don’t worry, keep watching

n9ruto

the stabbing was an accident, he backed up into her knife and she wasn't paying attention, richie has called her a whore multiple times and then insinuated she sucked someone's dick for that mention she really wasn't out of line during their argument

Nareenio

Michael as a character is such a good depiction of suicide/depression/addiction all in one and how him killing himself reaches such an aftermath, the portrayal of how the characters grieve him is so realistic that even you as the viewer can grieve him. His character and Carmys "nightmare of a household" goes a lot more in depth in a certain long ass stressful episode in season 2 so keep that in mind. Marcus and Sydney don't really need to verbally apologize, them showing up to work was enough of an apology and I think Carmy realized that. Can't wait for season 2 and how you guys react to it, it literally dogwalks season 1 by a milestone.

EmoBurrito

yeah I'm with sheera, only compliant here was that they also didn't apologize. Like they weren't in the right at all lol

Jr

richie my favorite character on this show.

KingdorismHD

They don't need to. It's a family, you don't apologize to your siblings verbally, you apologize with actions

KingdorismHD

Well the money was giving as an investment to renovate the restaurant and bring in more income. However they thought the money was lost and the loan was pretty much pointless. I'm guessing

Skye Brooklyn

nah richie got in her face and bullied her all season. didn’t feel bad for him a lick

Karoshn

my face hurts from all the crying man

Ian Hover

Bro i thought i was trippin with how swole he is cause i first seen him as lip but it’s cause he was getting in shape for the iron claw which i HIGHLY suggest. Amazing movie

Ian Hover

The questions you guys were asking about Michael is why it’s so well done. That’s the thing about suicide. It leaves a lot of unanswered questions. It’s never the people you expect either. It puts the viewers in carmys perspective

SageMode 1205

The way they make you love characters you used to hate is absolutely amazing. Richie and Tina are so good.

SageMode 1205

Next season you'll get more backstory as to why they are the way they are and why Micheal ended up doing what he did. A great damn show.

Gate

So was the Family Spaghetti off the menu and they didn't make it, or did he modified the recipe to not use the canned tomatoes all this time? And the money is exactly the amount he borrowed from the Uncle. So he borrowed the money...just to leave it there for Carmy to use? That he has to pay back anyway?

Chris Hee

Yeah much better to watch this show with other people, watching it alone is wayyy too stressful haha Definitely worth the watch, though

Tim Drake

When you realize he threw a can away

Sarah

There's always money in the banana stand.

Ava Nouri

Doesn’t matter if it was an accident or no, she should still apologize. I’m not saying that Richie hasn’t been in the wrong as well, he definitely ain’t innocent in all this. But going from verbal arguments to stabbing (even if it was an accident) should still warrant some kind of apology. At least in my world 🤷🏻‍♀️

Sekraan

The spaghetti is for the "family" meal, i.e. the restaurant staff eating together, it wasn't on the menu for customers. They remarked on it earlier in the season how its weird to have tomato sauce despite not using it in the menu.

Yoxxhio

???why tf is Jeremy allen white apologizing to everyone when they were in the wrong? And we are just skipping over that.

Sheraya san

Sheera *sees food*… “ewww”

EmoBurrito

Yet he apologized, and they wanted that apology from him as well. So yeah, makes no sense.

MayvaAva

He was being a shitty boss, yes they deserved to be reprimanded for their behavior, hell if he wanted to fire or demote them or w.e that’s perfectly reasonable, but he screamed at them, slapped shit out of their hands, insulted them, was throwing shit, and was overall just having a massive meltdown, his behavior was not proportional nor was it professional, like Syd said, it’s a business, there is a certain level of professionalism and tact needed, that’s why Carmy’s apologizing, he’s in the wrong (especially because he’s the boss)

Yoxxhio

No, A lot of kitchens run on high pressure like that. This is not an office job, and if you want to be a chef and expect to not be yelled at when you do something incredibly stupid…then you just might be stupid. What she did essentially tanked their business that day, and the black dude was being straight up retarded. MULTIPLE people told him to focus up and then that nigga put a cupcacke in his face… is he special? If you want a nurturing job go teach yoga. And regardless of that… neither of them took any accountability for what they did not a single thing. Edit: i speak with the experience of having to 2 close friends who’s familes run restaurants in nyc. One in bk and the other in manhattan

ok

Because it is his kitchen. He is the "boss." He is taking responsibility because no one else will, if he doesn't everything just falls apart.

Yoxxhio

Thats not how that works. When you fuck up in a kitchen you get called out and you apologize

ok

It was mainly placed in that section to give it a chance to win because it rightfully deserved awards. If placed in drama it would have lost to Succession in everything.

ok

I mean, I agree they should've apoligized too. But you asked why he apologized, and I explained it. He isn't going to force them to apologize. He did what he did to make the restaurant function cohesively again. He doesn't care about them apologizing. It's over and done. Now they can cook again.

andrew ayala

man what a mystery it is that syd and marcus are written in a way that they dont have too apologize for anything, and they never do anything wrong, and can do whatever they want. .. carmy and richie have to always be written as shitty, guilty and apologetic.. what a mystery that a show written in 2021/2022 is like this

artisticSarcasm

I feel like if he'd looked in the cans at any other point and hadn't gone through everything that he did, he wouldn't have been able to make it work the same way.

artisticSarcasm

I think he was also preparing to do what he did. He was just laying the groundwork for his form of apology/last gift before he left. In the beginning I think they were trying to put it on the menu to help save the restaurant, but Carmy didn't' want to make it because he never could get the recipe quite right and was still very avoidant of the whole issue. Mikey probably intended Carmen to get the letter much soooner

Leo

This Vinland Saga ass shit with the prologue being the first sesaon then next season actual show I can't wait to binge. Next season just finna be kitchen nightmares also Roshi blew my mind with Marcus being Lionel felt just like when I learned lil dicky producer friend in Dave was Taco. I seriously can't believe ballbreaker still works after the power outage. The opening scene reminded me of Legion especially with the bear in the audience. I thought we would get a dick butt joke for sure when carmy opened the letter and I also couldn't get over them not apologizing no spaghetti for you .

Yoxxhio

@sasha. Crawl back up your mother pussy and cry bih. Facts dont care bout yo feelings

MayvaAva

I think your missing a large point of Carmy’s character then, he (and Syd) don’t want to work in an abusive kitchen, something that i agree is very common, I’m saying all this as someone who has worked in higher end serving, with family who have been chefs They want to build something functional and good, Carmy apologized because his behavior is unacceptable and he doesn’t want to create an environment where it is, and the only way to fix that is to apologize and try to be better

nickhaze

Im with Lupa at the end, I was keeping it together until that last shot then I just broke during credits. I teared up a little at the letter reveal too. The message was so simple but because of the foundations the show was building it hit so hard. Writing is so fuckin good

Anonymous

It irritates me that people watch S1e7 and somehow forget how poorly Sydney had been treated ALL SEASON LONG. Getting all those orders really isn't that bad. The way Carmy failed at responding to the situation in a respectful and responsible way was the issue. The same way they dealt with it after Marcus and Syd quit is the way the could've handled it while they were there and things would've gone even better. It's so disappointing that people see Syd finally lose her cool in the episode and can't get over it, but you all forgive Carmy and Richie for their poor behavior bc 'that's just how they are.' *rolls eyes*

zacharie garondo

I agree they never apologized for that behavior during the rush

Tay

i keep seeing this lol but at the end of the day she physically assaulted the man like full stop. accident or not she should've have apologized you cant stab someone for saying mean things and then completely ignore it lmao how is this a debate

Ava Nouri

I thought it was just bad writing but the fact that people are defending her not apologizing is crazy to me

Nkechi

@Yoxxhio Did you miss the part where she wasn't even replying to you? Wtf is wrong with you, why are you insulting her

Nkechi

Maybe not Marcus, but Sydney definitely deserved an apology

Jaiden Williams

Carmen did apologize to marcus for 1 they did not apologize to him for messing up the orders, sydney stabbing richie and talking about his daughter and marcus with the donuts of course he was going to flip out and how they just left like that even though it was sydney's fault you have to be able to take that if you're going to work in a restaurant.

Kwame James

Sheera is hilarious saying he didn't do it with malicious intent when that's pretty much the definition of manslaughter
