Lūthér Hölâyèãhmé

I heard that this adaptation was a speedrun summary of a large majority of the anime.

Revstarallstar .

Watched it, thought it was alright… What makes me laugh is: the real fans are like it’s a bastardisation but meh. So you know this gonna be 50/50 heat and the tupac of ass. Cant wait to see what they think of all of this

adam8t

ngl i thought this was the anime for a sec

Aggtown_817

For an anime live action adaptation is almost a 9/10 the fact its even good is crazy. but if your talking about relating it to the anime its like a 5/10. This got me into watching the anime and the anime is way better the depth of characters and growth is way better but still this is good

bleach

Takemichi finally got hands (Yusuke's actor played Takemichi if you didn't get it)

King Medjai

It's actually good. And that's coming from a super fan that's watched the anime multiple times and read the manga. It proves that you don't need to be a shot for shot adaptation. For you guys that barely remember the anime it should be even more enjoyable.

LaTesha

It's not so bad I really liked and I finished the anime past what they showed on toonami. I liked OPLA more with it's renditon and maybe they should have given this one more episodes too but I still liked it.

LaTesha

Koenma's actor is Arisu friend from Alice in Borderland season 1. His name was karube or something I might be wrong on the name😅. It was the friend that worked at the bar.

One & Only

Not me thinking yall didn't watch the anime at first 😂

Anonymous

I almost thought… nvm LMAOOO

LaTesha

What's funny is I think in the anime botan tells yusuke they didn't expect his death and that the boy would have been fine and only had a few scratches and would have been okay without his intervention when trying to save him from the truck 😅

Anorak

My issue with this adaption is mainly just the length. It’s so short that no characters ever get developed. They end up being caricatures, and the plot is so rushed that everything just comes out of nowhere. On the whole, it’s not bad, just not good either.

Guns

So we all get judged by some dude with a pacifier and a wolf cut? Wicked

Hasnain Khan

Yehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Guns

Is this the anime where that spirit gun move is so popular from?

lomez

Not a bad first episode, but that fight with the possessed guy was so unnecessarily long. I think a full 5 minutes of hitting him with props pass between Yusuke being told he has to use spirit energy and actually attempting it.

Anonymous

I thought they were going to be watching the anime. My disappointment immeasurable.

Sam

I was holding out on this until you guys started. This was a cool first ep! Cheers guys.

Kami_Psy

Yusuke actually didn't do the spirit gun until like episode 6 in the anime and it was a really weak one

Wildcat Cinema

This show is both amazing and awful at the same time… be prepared to be floored

DatKid_Kaneki

i think its mostly for ppl who know of yu yy hakusho tbh. its not a bother if u actually watched the anime but it would b a problem if u never heard of it.

dawn

this was epic what the hell

JsnSkg

Yeah don't worry, it's been ages since I've seen YYH. I remember some really basic shit from early on, but that's about it. I really enjoyed this live action. Sure, they condensed a lot, but I think it works for this occasion. And honestly it just gets monotonous if everything is adapted one for one, imo. I mean, sure, it'd have been nice, but I don't think it's that or bust. Also, Botan hella cute here.

JsnSkg

Not as bad as Kazuma in Konosuba.... "saving" someone from a tractor, and dying from shock and not the impact. And then Aqua telling him and laughing her ass off.

Jalan

The action is directed by the same guy who’s done the High & Low tv and movie action franchise which is pretty fire btw. It might not be y’all cup of tea to an extent but it’s pretty popular in Japan. Plus a few of the actors from the franchise are in this show too

Jalan

I hope you guys react to the Rurouni Kenshin live action films 1-5 if you haven’t watch them already

J Man

The person who did the choreography for this, also did the choreography for Live Action Rurouni Kenshin (also on netflix). I recommend the live action kenshin as it's really good, especially the fight scenes.

Jalan

He mostly directed the stunts, but most of the fight choreography was handled by Kenji Tanigaki

Gunny

not tryna come off as rude, but can yall pls stop spoiling the plot, ik crazy that there's some people that never watched YuYu Hakusho, But I'm watching it for the first time w yall and ik I'm not the only one so please just keep in mind that there are people who never watched yuyu so pls try to keep spoilers down like the one piece live action.

botanbutton

Okay, not bad for episode 1! I can forgive some of the shortcuts. Actors are doing a great job for sure. And yeah, ya'll really don't remember nothing! YYH is my whole personality so I'm obligated to know everything, heh.

CleoKujo

So glad I waited to watch this with you guys!

Danny

Like Roshi wouldn't just gaslight everyone to think he never died 💀

Mr. Toxicc

Finally the reaction I been waiting for.

Anorak

Idk I’ve watched the anime and imo this version kinda just mangles some of the best parts in order to rush through the plot. No disrespect to those who enjoy it, I just wish they had been a little more faithful to the source material.

Cleven Anthony

Yeah that final season I ended up rewatching the anime n that’s how I found out bout that final arc 😭

KiRissa

ngl I thought the series was pretty good. The complaints are Understandable but I was pleasantly surprised with it being so enjoyable.

Christopher Ross

The action in this show is crazyyy

Daylen

66 ep turned into 5 to be exact but still not bad tbh just very rushed

Kumi Chan

Sheera be clowning sometimes 🤡

Daylen

For 66ep turned into 5 it’s not bad at all. I highly recommend anyone that hasn’t seen the full anime to check it out!!

WrathOfHeaven

Ooh this will be a good reaction! But also day 7 of asking for a Vikings or The Last Kingdom reaction

13

It was a solid show, but Im definitely not a fan of the changes to Hiei's costume/design. Wasnt a fan of how skinny Kuwabara was either, but his actor was just the right amount of goofiness to win me over

Candice Blair

It's good for live-action, but they skipped a lot of stuff. It's like five arcs meshed together in the series.

ok

As someone who has watched yyh this is pretty reasonable but is there a reason you won't watch the anime? Just curious.

Kisuke01

Haven't seen Yu Yu Hakusho in years time to see what did shit is about. I need to run the anime back along with Ranma 1/2.

KingdorismHD

I just watched yuyu hakusho from episode 1 to 5 and he hasn't even become an agent or used the spirit gun. So technically speaking, it took a damn long time for him to use it. Since the show dub is awful I'm guessing he uses it around episode 10

Joel Braaten

Yusuke's mom is hot.

mercury_black17

the show was fun but man they skip so much shit

RuTo-San

Grew up watching this show this was the sht on Toonami I couldn't wait for the next episode was like 7-8 lol

A. P.

Ahhh yes. My most rewatched anime. Yusuke Urameshi, the realest anime nigga to ever grace the screen. I watched episode 1 but I waited on y'all to watch the rest so hopefully it's good lol Not a bed first episode.

Kevin

Boy this live action was a speed run. There’s certain things I wish they would have cut out or I wish they didn’t try to adapt all 66 episodes. I’m also not a fan of Hiei’s design either. But’ All in all though it’s a real fun watch and the nostalgia really hits

Dune

It's probably the same with one piece live action. For many people that was their first introduction to one piece. I do think it's a lot to ask to tone down on spoilers for a show that came out ages ago.

Devin B

Lupa: Is it me or are they going for a more old school style here Sir the anime is nothing but old school

Reckless Company

Live action is fire this is what a healthy budget looks like

AllanJ

Roshi's about to start experiencing hearing loss in that right ear anytime now 😭

Kendall Gresham

Both Lupa and Sheera screaming in Roshi's ear was hilarious. He's gonna need a hearing aid on the next reaction lmao.

poisonivybag

I've never seen Yu Yu Hakusho but the choreo is beautiful! Very hyped for this.

Delinda Arts

i need a corridor crew break down of how they did that truck scene bc I'm sure there are hella stitches and masking goin on, but it looks so damn clean.

Gunny

@ok Just never really had an interest for it maybe because of how old it was, always wanted to check it out but the live action convinced me so I'm gonna start it . and yea ik I cant really blame them for spoiling ik its my fault mainly for never watching it just curious

danial javady

at 21:47 he put it on 23?

no. 21’s no. 1 simp

I feel like he just really got hit in real time by it. The dedication of these actors is out of this world.

Dezmond Broadway

It's definitely one of those good for what it is. So many amazing things about it. I wish they had taken a similar approach to one piece approach. I'm fine with speed running a couple chapter but this is egregious. Not really complaining because I saw so many people crying in yu yu halusho forums that my mentality was set to enjoy it for what it is.

Dezmond Broadway

Not really complaining because I saw so many people crying in yu yu hakusho forums that my mentality was set to enjoy it for what it is. Yu yu hakusho is one my fav anime of all time. I figured I'd just watch it as a reaction and let their joy reacting to it set my energy. Instead of watching it on my own and ruining it for myself.

HIM

I kinda feel you on that, bro. It feels like they kinda wanted to make a kung fu zombie show and just dressed it up as an anime adaptation 😅 I like it for it is, but watching alone makes me over analyze like FUCK.

Dezmond Broadway

Yeah if I didn't watch with them I might have dropped it episode one... but no lie it's been fun this way.

HIM

BIG CAP ALERT! Well... Now that I think about it, I see the confusion, but STILL! YuYu Hakusho aired in it's entirety on Cartoon Network. HOWEVER, it's final arc only aired on Adult Swim, and the time slot was like 1 AM and 5 AM. I literally would wake at 5 before school to watch it. So yeah, I guess it didn't finish on Toonami before it became "Meguzi"(trash 🤣), but it still finished on the same channel. P.S. YES NIGGA, it actually meant something to me to explain this 😂

Sham3ful

I'd kill for a continuation of LA Bleach after this show & One Piece with how they snapped.

HIM

I'm so sorry (I'm on some wine) but as an adult who has gone back and rewatched ALL of my childhood hood favorites (Except Zoids, Ronin warriors, and Wolf's Rain), AKA a WEEB, I can't let you slide, Lupa! But actually, instead of hating, I propose a toast... A Toast to a new idea for reactions, and you're the ONLY channel that can make it popular.... 90s anime reactions. Kids don't know what's up, but they're curious. People 25-35 are where it's at, and that's what fills up Patreon. Rewatch a classic and see how it goes. I say a show like Tenchi Muyo (the 12 Ep. OVA), aka THE 1ST Harem anime, would be a great test. I rewatch Code Geass every year. Other people do the same with their favorites. Try out some Toonami classics 1 time and I BET there will be a lane for it. Lupa... Thanks for reminding me Inuyasha still exists 😆👍

Alex

Oh hey, was that the one with the guy who gets a lightsaber looking thing to fight spirits, and a harem?

Alex

LA bleach was kind of poo though. Cool moments, bad film. Like sprinkles in a turd, it's still unappetizing.

Random Guy

I guess when you are getting bullied you can act like you are going crazy and zombie ike and they will leave yo alone XD

HIM

@Alexander Hughes Yessir. It's got over a handful of iterations, but the OVA is what played on Toonami back in the day

Azzy V

I usually don’t like watching live actions of anime’s especially anime’s that I grew up watching because the live actions I’ve seen did not deliver , so I was hesitant but watching yu yu (one of my favs) live action was a great decision 😩

Ebronics

i love when i see fight choreo and i think "they had a ball doing this"

tany

first episode was crazy good, it’s motivating me to start the anime

Anonymous

FUN FACT yusuke's actor play takemichi in the tokyo revengers live adaptation

Jaelyn Mcgee

I would love to see them react to outlaw star. It's one of my favorite 90s shows and doesn't get enough love

Smash Bran'Discootch

This was so egregiously bad. Like...it had all the elements to be good and it just wasn't. Look at how they massacred my boy! I'm hoping Watching it with yall will make it not horrible.

Smash Bran'Discootch

Except...it is bad. Really bad. Like they should have just made a zombie martial arts show because that's all this is. It isn't yu yu hakusho. None of the themes of the original story are present. How is this in any way a coming of age story? How is this toguro in any way a reflection of Yusuke? They reduced Yusuke taking the spirit orb to "Oh snap, I almost forgot to give this to you! Here bro!" Nothing about this was good. The people who made this have clearly never seen the source material.

Smash Bran'Discootch

Yeah this was EGREGIOUSLY bad. Like all of the themes of the original work were just tossed out the window. They reduced what should have been THE most important scene in the show to "Oh crap, Yusuke! I almost forgot to give you the spirit wave orb! Here you go bro!"

Smash Bran'Discootch

NO ROSHI! NO JUJUTSU KAISEN LIVE ACTION! Why would you even put that put into the universe? You're really wanting them to ruin ALL the good anime with crappy adaptations? Bad. Go to your room and think about what you did.

Anorak

Egregiously bad seems like maybe a bit much imo. A lot of the action was cool, but yeah I also wish the story/characters had gotten some more time in the oven.

Smash Bran'Discootch

Oof, I take it you think that the YYH live action is actually good? Because if so, you're not qualified to be part of the conversation.

BreezeMoneyy

“Set it off” album cover got me crying

Lockstepmind

CERN International organization which operates the world's largest particle physics laboratory. Their plan is to open up the demon realm

GigaDirt

Probably not a great idea but I've never seen Yu Yu Hakasho before, knowledge set to 0 and I'm watching this, and my current plan is if this is even semi interesting to me ill give the anime a shot lol

KapZachlan

Not sure if anyone said it already, but its the same stunt team who did the Rurouni Kenshin live action. They're so kinetic with the movement, closest to live action anime IMO

Spadez

WAIT LIVE ACTION?!?!?!? Fuck yes. I know Roshi fucks with YYH so was so happy when I heard you were going to stream it!
