When your physical strike and cursed energy both impact within 0.000001 seconds of each other a black flash occurs. Your strike is buffed to the power of 2.5, as an example a strike with a base power of 100 would reach 100,000. Landing a black flash can't be done 100% intentionally, it's more like it happens when you're reaaalllyy in the zone and everything lines up just right for you. It's not quite random, it's a result of skill and concentration (and a little bit of luck). After landing a black flash you acquire a heightened sense for and understanding of cursed energy. You also ride a high from it described as "a feeling of omnipotence" as if everything revolves around you, bringing out more of your potential.

So it's not about the damage dealt it's about the fighting capabilities they gain after landing it. You can see it in Mahito who landed his first black flash this episode and how he is getting more and more powerful as the fight goes on.

you apply CE to a hit like 0.000001 seconds after you hit. that delay causes a distortion and raises your damage to 2.5 exponent so if we use like damage numbers and u hit 100 it doesnt make it 250 it makes you hit for 100,000. It's basically a type of Damage Stasis ability, so while she has no pulse & isn't breathing it's not been that long of a time where she'd become braindead even w/ resuscitation attempts, so she's basially in stasis between a few seconds of blood loss to brain & the amount of seconds you need to have blood loss to the brain for you to have either heavy brain damage or death due to too long of a time between loss of blood & EMT. So in Itadori's case even tho he has potential open wounds, they won't bleed out despite that, because the wounds are in stasis, but this doesn't apply to newly opened wounds etc

Not Really a Spoiler but WARNING TODO’S TECHNIQUE To explain some aspects of Todo’s Curse Technique, one is true, the other is a theory. Todo can only switch things that have curse energy, this why you see them imbuing rocks with curse energy to teleport to them. The theory is that Todo can only switch things he can see. This is a bit iffy since he sometimes teleports things that are behind him so it may be the things that are within in a certain distance/or recently have been seen. This can explain why he doesn’t just teleport Mahito away.

I gotta say, as much as I hate Mahito for what he's done, Nobunaga Shimazaki put his whole fucking lungs into his performance this episode, and makes Mahito a really memorable villain for me. He has charisma. I love watching him interact with the other characters as much as I love watching him get the shit kicked out of him.

he can switch stuff with anything that has above a threshold of cursed energy, but doesn't need to see it. see s1 where he switched with the cursed tool that was across the forest. He could switch mahito and send him away, but that would be useless since he'd just come back or hurt other people. He can also use other people's hands to clap (he did it in the episode)

The thing I like about this series is the irredeemable villains. I feel like , especially in new gen anime, a lot of the villains are (whether unintentionally or not) sympathetic. You might even feel bad when they finally die and you learn about their tragic backstory. Mahito (and the curses) are just the embodiment of pure evil which makes you root for the heroes even more.

Yuji has been on the verge of a breakdown since he switched back with sukuna, then nanami dies infront of him, next nobara dies and he's completely and utterly broken, lost the will to live and fight back entirely. Todo had to come in and literally rebuild yujis mental state from the ground up. So they're completely different mindsets, one was the mindset of yuji on a downward spiral as he loses control of everything and everyone he cares about is dying in front of him. The other is post mental break, entirely renewed resolve and he has todo there with him. Todo being there makes all the difference when, like we've seen before, todos encouragement has a profound effect on yuji, demonstrated by last time they fought together yuji tied the consecutive black flash record.

Yes to touch on the rage power-up, i believe it is continuously shown in the manga that rage blurs focus and is exceptionally inefficient. eg. Yuji vs Mahito (first fight) where he didn't even touch Mahito once while inraged, he only improved after calming down and syncing up with Nanami. Same thing (even more explicit actually) during the Yuji+Todo vs Hanami fight.

As someone that read the manga…this episode had me in TEARS! 😣💔 Yuji’s sad face right before he got back into the fight (my poor baby 😣), this thoughts about Nanami, and the Miwa and Mechamaru interaction all did me in.
