Anime Only Theory: The only way I can see this situation being saved is for John Smith to give his cut of gold coins to Mitsugoshi so when people get scared and rush to take out their money they have enough coins to give out while the Alliance bank will not. That ways the Cult and Alliance are hurt, Mitsugoshi is saved and Cid remains broke, maintaining the status quo. I am curious how Alpha we react because no matter what the outcome is she will left out Shadow.

All though the anime is a little different in a couple of acts if you look at the LN Shadow took a bath and doused himself in perfume to try and fake out Delta but still didn't work. Apparently no mater how hard Shadow tried to match Deltas innate senses he never could so you could say she's built different.
