Remember monogatari second season, how it started with Hanekawa dealing with the white tiger and her and Hitagi had that discussion of their taste in food (and men) and showered together? They couldn't find Araragi in that arc and he showed up at the end to save Hanekawa. This arc happens concurrently with that arc (same time). Basically we went back in time to show what Araragi had going at that time. It's why the school started burning when they fought the armor last episode, cuz Hanekawas tiger burned every place that hanekawa slept at. Hoped this helped.

This arc takes place immediately after Mayoi Jiangshi and Shinobu Time, alongside Tsubasa Tiger, and right before the Sodachi arcs which are before Nadeko Medusa.

2023-10-27 17:35:58 This episode just perfectly shows why people should watch Monogatari without 8 month breaks between each arc. Literally everything from this arc built apon knowing what happened in second season. No reason to cry over spilt milk though. All I hope is that we get the rest of Monogatari's ~20 episodes without waiting another two years; Pretty sure I'm just setting myself up for disappointment though. EXPLAINATIONS: Shinobu talked to the cat (hanekawa) during the Ssubasa Tiger arc in Araragi's room. Shinobu and the cat then went to the abandoned school which (as we find out in this arc), turns out to have burned down while Araragi and Kanbaru were fighting the armor. It's important that we understand this all happens before Ougi is ever introduced. Monogatari as a whole can be categorized into 3 seperate main story events in this order: 1. Vampire stuff and the 5 basic oddities from Bakemonogatari. All of these are fixed with the help of waifu Oshino. 2. Time travel, Darkness, and Vampire stuff with Shinobu and Gaen. This all happens within 5 days, alongside Tsubasa Tiger. 3. Ougi stuff with her controlling everything behind the scenes. This is the largest overall event. First involving Sodachi, then involving Nadeko with the snake, and then involving Tadatsuru with the weird Tsukimonogatari ending. We are currently at event number 2.

Man its nuts how a lot of things are happening all at once but it was spread out into arcs seperated into multiple seasons. I started watching monogatari waayyyyy long after it finished airing, but I can't imagine the people that watched this when it aired.
