britt

takemitchy beat up as the thumbnail is priceless lmao

eren1320

I gotta give a tiny bit of props for having heart

Solivigant Kaiba

Ngl, I got a lil emotional at the end of this episode. The animation and direction is really good and as a manga reader, I am so, so satisfied with it. Takemichi makes me really happy and it makes you wish you had a friend like him. This arc and everything else that comes after is a wild ride, I just hope yall enjoy it as much as I did.

Solivigant Kaiba

Also, Sheera, at 16:26, the tape is from when Baji and Kazutora broke in to Shin's shop.

Jalan

Takemichi: Imma run at you and fight while I’m tied up Mucho: 👊🏽👊🏽🤜🏽 🤛🏽 Takemichi: 🪦💀

Kingmakaii

At this point if I was takemichi I’m have a knife or gun on me all the time second a nigga snuff me you get shot or stabbed we delinquent right we a gang bet don’t be surprised when I start stabbing or shooting niggas 🤷🏽‍♂️😭

Gladeez

It gets better from here, insane plot twists and wildness is in the works 😭

Jalan

Takemichi proceeds to not learn how to throw hands every time he goes back. Like bro you mean to tell me you hang out with all these badass fighters but you never even ask not one to even teach you😂🤦🏽‍♂️. At least ask Chifuyu for Christ sakes🤣🤣. It’s been 3 seasons like come on now

KeYo

I ain't gonna lie. at this point I watch this anime just to see when takemitchy gets his his ass beat lol. its like when uncle Phil would throw jazz out the house lol

kai

takemitchy may get his ass whopped but at least he dont give up 😹

Vongola Fiamme

they are brawlers not martial artist yall watch way too much shonen to think people can just learn how to fight and anyone who can fight can just teach someone

6CatsInAnAlley

I think one of the reasons people trust Takemichi so much is because of the parallels to Mikey’s brother and how similar they are and how Takemichi reminds them of him like how he was also bad at fighting but good at building up people to follow him

Jalan

Many of them are brawlers. But you got characters like Mikey and Izana who are famously known for using flashy kicks. That’s some martial artist shit. It don’t even matter if it’s martial arts or not, just go to a damn gym or something. All that running at somebody and not blocking or weaving ain’t doing shit no more but causing more damage to the dome. Even the brawlers know when to block or dodge. Takemichi on the hand….

Vongola Fiamme

"i dont know how they put their faith in this dude" they've said it multiple times. He reminds them of Mikey's brother who couldnt fight but knew how to rally everyone behind him. For Takemitchy it isnt about him being the best fighter but just a great person. He cant fight for shit but he'll be the first to run in to save a friend. Even when Mikey first met him he knew he couldnt beat that guy but he stood up for his homie and the next episode stood up to Dracon. We watch way too many battle shonen shows where its only about how hard you can hit someone. Takemitchy doesnt need that cause his boys take that role he just needs to be him the guy who always has his friends back. Incoming "I aint reading all that" fuck yall lol

Vongola Fiamme

he has blocked, he was tied up it was more about principle rather than actually winning, hes also countered Taiju and the one guy from season 1. I get that yall get tired of him losing but he's always fighting either the top tier people or getting jumped. "going to the gym" aint really gonna save him in those situations

KeYo

this is the second time I've almost passed out from laughing omg. this and the taiju fight had me passing out. takemitchy number 1 comedy character

Ryan Ryan

Yeah Idk how people don’t get that at this point of the show… it has been said over and over and made clear in pretty much every arc. But Yeah since he isn’t strong he isn’t trustworthy i guess…

Sergio

idk about all that lmaooo but yea this season is better than the other 2

Solivigant Kaiba

Well, glad you think so. I just like TR a lot and it has a very special place in my heart. I'm a fan of Wakui's other 2 works so I really enjoy his writing. I know people get sick of Michi, but I can't say anything without spoiling.lol

ALIEN Pol

The reason people put faith in Takemitchy is because he stands up for people. If I am tied in a chair, and some guy is taking hits for me lying on the floor in front of me, I am definitely gonna trust him with my life. And the fact that he can't fight well is because he's not into this gang shit. Bro and his 3 friends gets beat up by kiyomasa, and just stop playing gang shit. Now moving to the part why he doesn't kills people, is because it's still not very clear if Killing Kisaki solves the problem. What if he kills Kisaki and the future is still dark. You now ended up on Juvie, can't change shit. Hina hates you for being a murderer (she likes him for standing up and being different than other guys). It's just over for you bro. Also, if you had to save Sheera by time leaping every now and then and it's whole Black LA hood against you. What you gonna do? Be Jerome from Snowfall? XD

Big Daddy Dre

We 3 seasons in and yall don’t know why they put their faith in takemitci?🤦🏾‍♂️

Hasnain Khan

Yehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Merfhew

@Jalan - I'm guessing Kisaki is trash at fighting, too, but my memory is fuzzy. I don't recall him landing a single punch during the Bloody Halloween arc (unless you count the punches that landed on his punchable face, courtesy of Baji). And yet, he's still a problem. Over and over again. If Kisaki has the brains, I guess Takemichi has the heart (cause they sure as hell ain't the brawn). Both display a symbolic strength the other lacks, but neither is a fighter in the physical sense. The show is pretty unrealistic, even when you look past the time travel and lack of concussions, but if Takemichi (or Kisaki) were to suddenly became a decent brawler, I think the show's believability factor would drop even further.

Kumi Chan

random fact: The Mucho dude is Jotaro's VA

Luhbabytay

And you think Mikey gonna waste his time to teach tamkemichi how to fucking kick? Lol

Jalan

Uh if I recall the reason Kisaki didn’t land a punch is cause he was the mastermind of why the whole brawl went down. He was nowhere to be found so he could make his move and pretend to save Mikey from Kazutora in order to keep him on his good side and manipulate him which he always ends up doing in the future.

Jalan

Obviously I didn’t say that but okay bro🙄

Big Daddy Dre

When would he have time to go to a gym and learn how to fight? This not like rezero where he can just keep trying over and over bro is racing against the clock to find ways to prevent shit from happen🤦🏾‍♂️

Jalan

He had times where he could’ve been learning. During the downtimes after a big battle. Like after they defeated Moebius, Takemichi was just walking around smiling with shades on like he was the cool guy. It’s been a few times where they had some downtime and he would just chilling and not thinking what’s gonna happen next. At the end of the day, Takemichi got heart, durability and potential and we respect him for that but it’s the constant ass whooping he gets every other episode it gets annoying. During them downtimes when he’s just chilling with people, he should be training

Kumi Chan

Dont worry. they will respect him by the end of this season

Alex

Takemitchy has a strong will

Merfhew

@Jalan - Yeah, but he didn't hide at first. He joined the brawl alongside everyone else at the beginning. As the fight continued on, Kisaki snuck away, but I don't think he landed a punch prior to hiding. He certainly had time to show off, as Kazutora didn't ambush Mikey right away (unless I'm mistaken... it's been a while since I watched that arc). Regardless, my point was that Kisaki, like Takemichi, is only average (at best) in a brawl, but they're strong in other ways. And we have seen Takemichi training. He tried to get stronger by breaking his bloodied knuckles on a tire swing.

Semaj Brown

I’m not even mad about him getting whoops. Cause 1. he is duct taped. 2. The dude literally said he is the best fighter among all the captains.

Saint Nexus

Yeah, everyone in the comments saying that they don't get how they have faith in takemitchy, I feel the same. It's nearly the exact same with Luffy and Goku except he doesn't get powerups. They follow him cause 1. He hasn't died yet, 2. He has a strong will, 3. He reminds them of their dream of a fun gang, and 4. Like Mikey said, let's be honest and say he's the strongest in the verse, but even he called Takemitchy strong. Cause what does physical strength matter when you don't know who you are or what your dream is. Takemitchy represents more than strength, and that's why they follow him.

Devin B

It's understandable why you guys can't wrap your heads around people rallying behind Takemichi because not only can he not fight but he also doesn't come up with the best of plans. He just has a strong will and is optimistic about things working out and those things are enough to trust him enough to follow him. Me personally I'm not following anyone who can't fight and can't plan anything.

Seanthebomb

Regardless of that, this is a whole gang show. This man has been time travelling for 3 seasons now, and has wasted his time on a bunch of things like bowling, going on dates, etc, (i get that these are important for development , but this is to counter the point some people make of him not having time to train) so no excuse can be made for not even attempting to train and get stronger so that he can actually do something besides have a good heart and attitude. I get that his personality is the reason people follow him, but at the same time its like if we were watching Luffy never win any fights and still say hes gonna be the king of the pirates. After awhile its just goofy to see Takemichi talk so optimistically and proceed to get his ass kicked and make a couple of new friends. Don't get me wrong the show is still entertaining (which is why i watch it), but for me personally I don't think Takemichi will ever be that strong of a character unless he actually does make the effort to back up his words.

Vongola Fiamme

looking only at the setting and completely disregarding the themes and character dynamics within said setting is certainly a interesting way to consume media. Also no amount of training is going to make him as strong or nearly as strong as mikey or drakken or any top tier fighter. Takemitchy isnt designed to be like Luffy again battle shonen plague thats all yall see when watching these shows. Luffy is designed to be a character who will fight and always come out on top. Takemitchy is designed to be there for his friends who are monsters when it comes to scrapping but need a shoulder some times. Thats his role his role was never to be the fighter its never going to be the one to beat up the strongest cat there. His role is literally to be a great friend, to step in between Drakken when hes about to get killed, to get Mikey and Drakken to settle their issues through comedy, to try and talk Pah out of killing someone, when the rest of Toman is beaten and battered to be the one to stand tall against all odds and not go down, etc etc. You've watched three seasons of this show to wait for something to happen that will never happen because the show is specifically designed for it to not happen.

2023-10-26 03:25:24 18:02 From everyone else's perspective, Hanagaki has made it through every fucked up situation thus far, without failure (excluding Baji's death) right? It wouldn't be hard to believe people would put their faith in someone like that IMO.

X-Kun

I feel like the reason why people put faith in Takemichi is because of how he goes about things. They know he’s trash at fighting, they know he needs help, but they see his ambitions and that he never gives up despite the fact. Typical shounen shit ik, but that is inspiring in its own right. Not only that, he does get the job done eventually (ex: stopping black dragon, saving draken, kicking Kisaki out, etc.) At this point it’s like “damn you getting crumpled for me? You a real one”

Jose

They just have a hate boner for takemitchy lol

Jose

No amount of training will make mitchy a good fighter

Big Daddy Dre

@sean luffy gets his ass beat like 3 times every arc the only difference is luffy has to win those fights mitchey just has to stop key events from happening to get his dub which he has time and time again

yoongi

i thought ppl knew takemichi cant fight thats his character but his strengths is what others lack like a lot lol

yoongi

i hope they don't pull a "and it was a dream" thing like i would be annoyed if the whole point is hina is supposed to be dead bc of something awful she did

Seanthebomb

Sure the character themes and dynamics are important, but also the setting is the basis of a story. Why wouldn't I be looking at the setting in relation to those? I understand that Takemichi is written to be like that, and I'd argue that its not a good writing choice. I was only using Luffy as a comparison, Tokyo Revengers is not a typical shonen but it still is an action anime and when the main character only gets his ass beat in every scenario he gets involved in, it's hard to watch at times. Toyko Revengers sets up this elaborate gang action theme with unusually strong middle schoolers, all of which have different and strong character traits. I understand why Takemichi is weak in the beginning since he just went back in time, but after awhile something should change. Even his plans for fixing his problems barely work half the time, and he ends up getting lucky in other situations. His writing just doesn't work as the series progresses, because he doesn't get stronger in many ways at all. Even mentally he just charges at people, has unlimited durability, and is constantly saved by plot armor, plot convenience, and luck (random friendship powerup when fighting Taiju). Plus hes mentally 26 years old and that rarely shows in his character. I don't have the "Battle shonen plague", its just that Tokyo Revengers doesn't work as well as other shows do with the weak physically but strong mentally mc theme. Takemichi is just your typical main character who only has determination, and that's not really a good thing, especially when Tokyo Revenger's story gets as elaborate as it does. (I know I sound like a d1 hater but i really do like the show, I just feel like Takemichi could be so much better than what he is. And its completely fine to like him, maybe im just not seeing something yall do)

Sergio

lupa was killing me with the “it’s not if you win or lose it’s about if you lose you win”😭😭fuckin lupa bru

Sergio

also i’m so glad y’all still watch this show and don’t follow other reaction channels. y’all genuinely make any show good or worth the watch.

Seanthebomb

@Dre Takemichi has to win his fights too. instead of actually learning how to he gets lucky or avoids the situation and leaves it to another stronger character. and then makes bad choices but usually ends up on top. At that point i blame the writing bc he could've been written to learn and improve from those situations, but so far (anime only) that hasn't shown. I really enjoy the character relationships with Takemichi and how all of that forms, but that shouldn't be the replacement for him not being written to improve in some way. Even just making smarter plans would help his character ig

A. P.

Bro we all get that the niggas superpower is charisma and that he doesn't give up and he reminds people of Shinichiro and that's inspiring and shit but like... This is a GANG. Bro you have to learn to fight! If the homies from my set saw me get beat up on every mission and didn't start just telling me to stay my ass home, they'd just be bad friends lol one of us gotta not be delusional. Then again Takemichi clearly has the power of family like Dom lol

Cleven Anthony

lol they place their faith in him cause his determination & ability to protect his friends goes beyond just winning all the fights. He’s not as strong as everyone else but his power lies in keeping everyone safe till the ppl who can win show up. Just like Mikey’s bro he can be a hero n not b the strongest

Aniki Pft

Not even really a TK fan and definitely not a Takamitchi fan, but I don't think it's wrong to admit he looks cool getting his ass beat. He's just not a fighter which to some people is a deal breaker, like yeah it can be cringy at times with how badly they fuck him up, be he is pretty resilient which is remarkable. Not surprised he would rally people to his side.

Painted black

This anime is going to end with Takamitchi going back to the future and finding out he’s got mad CTE

Nuke XD

They all rely so much on Takemichi because he reminds them of Shinichiro ( Mikey´s brother ), Just like Takemichi, Shinichiro wasn't a good fighter, Mikey mentioned that, but he was a good leader and he was caring, so they see him in Takemitichy, Mikey mentioned that too that if he goes on the wrong path he wants Takemichi to scold him, just like his brother did, so yea that's why they all rely on Takemichi, he is the weakest but physical strength is not the key here

Cjthagreat

The show has explained like 100 times why they keep following him.

Fuji

best part of this show is watching yall clown the mc its funny as fuck lmao

Vongola Fiamme

The issue is you are using setting to disregard character. Again the setting is second to the characters themselves. Takemitchy isnt supposed to be the fighter. To make Takemitchy become this great fighter would completly disregard the very first theme set up in season 1. That he is like Mikey's older brother. He is not written to be the fighter, its not that others are seeing something in him they you arent its more of you want a completely different story than the one that was set up from the beginning. You are asking the author to get rid of core character traits to appease your want from a bad ass action show. Its the same as asking Luffy to stop being impulsive, to tell Naruto to stop believing in people, to tell Goku to stop training. These are things about characters that sure outside of the specific story would be "negatives" but inside the context of the story and what is setup are positives.

smiv

I lost it when he woke up in the trash lmfaooooooo

Seanthebomb

Its not a positive for his character at all though is it. Luffy is impulsive but he can back his shit up and learns from his mistakes, Takemichi ONLY has his optimistic attitude and his plot armor luck. Dude has no other special attributes, and if that's how the character is supposed to be written its just not it. Instead of plot armor the author could make him actually improve himself (either intelligently or physically), so that he can compete against the other outrageous characters that the author creates. Takemichi can literally travel through time, and has barely used that to his advantage at all (look at how much Kisaki does vs Takemichi). Also, the thing with Shinichiro is that although they've mentioned how he wasn't a good fighter but still led his gang, we've never actually seen how he handles situations compared to Takemichi. We've actually seen Takemichi in all of his situations, and hes rarely handled anything in a good way. I can understand the like for him, but you cant say to me with a straight face that he has great writing. I don't need a badass action show, I need to see a character that's been shown over and over again how weak and dumb he is to actually manage to achieve something (without plot armor or other characters stepping in). I need to see him himself grow and become more.

Vongola Fiamme

Luffy almost got his crew killed by Kaido simple plot is the reason hes even alive so idk why you bring up plot armor luck lol. Its also been said Kisaki is a genius manipulator and master mind again playing to a characters strong suit. I can say he has great writing because he does have great writing. You simply want a character to not be a character and at that point the show is just not for you. Hes acheived multiple things at this point you are down playing his achievments.

ShaquanVirse

This show is literally if the background character was the MC

Jordan Postle

Am I the only one left curious as to why noone in Toman questioned why the only captain that didn't get attacked is also a former S-62 and how if Shinichiros shop was well known by hoodlums how neither Baji nor Kazutora knew it was Shinichiros shop they were robbing before Kazutora killed him?

HIM

....BOY I'd you don't get yo... 🤣 jk

Anonymous

I'm really gonna love this anime if at the end there's a plot twist where we all realize none of this actually happened and its all in takemichis head and in reality hes been in a coma because he got brain damage from getting his ass beat so much lmao.

Ketsu

the only thing good about this show is that it's so bad to the point it's comedy

quxntum

pretty sure that place was a hangout before baji and katzutoro was really in the picture. atp mikey wasn’t with draken (or st least as much) which means he wasn’t with the others. baji knew that it was mikey’s brother but they never hung out at the shop only people in shinichiro’s gang did

General Grevious

I seen a lot of comments trying to defend takamichi but idc how inspirational you are, if you keep getting yo shit rocked with no difficulty I cannot take you serious😂

WindyCannabis

You must not have taken a look into an average inner city school lately Blood lust is abundant. That's how we have news articles like, "15-year old boy beats teacher to a pulp over a confiscated Nintendo DS"
