For as many anime fans who complain about the show not being 1-to-1 of the anime, it’s easy to forget that it’s supposed to be an ‘adaptation’ and not a ‘remake’. I’ve had friends who have skipped out on the anime because of its goofiness or the length of the series but said they loved the LA and that it convinced them to give the anime a try. Oda is trying to reach an audience that might not like/watch anime while also trying to please us fans and I feel like he did a great job.

This show was a fun ride. I still believe the Ruroni Kenshin live action still takes the cake for me as best live action adaptations, but for a western produced show, this was the best. If yall haven't seen the live action kenshin movies, that would be a dope trio reaction if there is any down time!

Scott Tyson

A bit of info I found out for people. They had filmed 2 more episodes after this to cover the next island with Smoker, but Netflix didn't let them finish them. So here is hoping S2 will come a little sooner and have more episodes now that Netflix has faith in the show.

w show , w reaction . Glad y’all enjoyed it

Can someone tell me who they were talking about at the end?

logan

Chopper and robin both in the alabasta saga

SeriouslyJet

For those who hasn't catch up to the latest one piece manga. Garp in his peak was every pirates nightmare.

Leon

I was surprised by how well they did this live action.

Kodyak Combs

Am I the only one who thinks Arlong sounds like Lupa?

Saucy Jonathan

I can’t wait for chopper next season

John Cedar

"I can still take you" from Shanks is crazy. I never watched the anime so that line alone delivered with absolute sincerity makes Shanks a completely new character now, he isn't just a goofy drinker. I'm guessing he could actually fold Mihawk if he wanted to which is insane, I need to see some of him fighting for real in S2.

JayTheRookie

Next season I need to see luffy hit the fist of equal rights on vivi

Exiova

Nami's tatoo is supposed to be a pinwheel with a tangerine at the tip. To honor her mother.

Kameron Renae

I’m so excited for season 2. Oda had hinted in his thank you video that the straw hats will be looking for a doctor next season 👀😭 my baby is coming 🥹. Glad y’all enjoyed it as much as I did

Arturo

Solid show. Can't wait to see how they do Chopper and who plays Robin 😌

Carlos

We Are at the end always gets me. Super well done.

Luffy_77

Aye they might redeem the foxy arc, it has some potential in live action

Luffy_77

Yo we gonna see the man the myth the legend Bon chan next season???

Yolo Samurai

I feel like they should still do that arc you guys were talking about, but it would be cool to see them do it as a movie to kind of get all the good parts in 1 go, then start the next arc in the season after. Assuming we get that far obviously.

yoongi

lmao luffy trying to keep his peace for years against grandpa

yoongi

go fish

Art of Trolling

They ate. I’m mad I judged before watching. Still not watching that long ass anime lmao there’s no way to catch up at this point 😂.

Gunny

They forgot the most important fishman Hatchan, hella surprising because of the fact how important his character is later on. And that crazy fight he had with Zoro on arlong park if anyone is curious how that turned out I suggest looking up the anime version of Zoro vs Hachi on youtube.

Isaac Cobbinah

honestly, if u liked this show, u will love the anime. I used to be like u, then i could up to the anime so fast and somehow began reading the mange, that how good it is...trust

Xanny Man

My only real gripes was Zoro only using two swords for the majority of the show and their skippings of Sanji vs Gin/Zoro vs Hachi other than that solid 7.5

Slacker

LMAO LUPA THE PROPHET STRIKES AGAIN

Digital Alikin

I'm sure the foxy was just a lil reference. No way they waste time n money on that arc

Drake Rage

You can tell they put their heart and soul into making this. This would have been pure Gold if they had some of Disney's wasteful budget or that Amazon money poured into it, but they did the most they could with what they had, and made something very enjoyable. One of my personal favorite scenes that did not happen was when Arlong rips Zoro's bandages and he is absolutely SHOOK, like Arlong considers humans to be completely inferior to fishmen, but that is the first time we see Arlong being scared looking at Zoro's wound and how he was still fighting like a Demon against them, Arlong was like "How the fuck are you even still alive with wounds like this." Woulda loved that scene, but they used their budget efficiently so I can't complain. Definitely a top tier live-action adaptation!

JB3

I think that's the least "Garp" Garp can be without absolutely murdering Luffy. Overall... I expected a lot less from this series but am extremely pleasantly surprised on how good it turned out. Honestly, I am really interested in how they are going to live action some of the things coming up and how far they intend to take the show.

Sergio

A few thing. 1) The cgi in this show was amazing, i personally don’t have a single issue with it, however i’m concerned with how they’re going to adapt chopper next season cuz it’s gonna be expensive asf. 2) i love all the straw hats, but the actor who plays luffy needs to watch or read one piece. from what i’ve heard his actor knows the least from the main cast about one piece which is hilarious. he just needs to work on his delivery and mannerisms. like when he’s supposed to look like an idiot at times he looks like he’s being sarcastic rather then him actually being fr lmao. just a personal nitpick. 3) btw robin is supposed to be in next season (not gonna spoil when). other than that they did amazing, i heard they already have the script ready and just waiting for a time to start shooting which will probably be early next year (with castings being towards the end of this year).

Sergio

omg!! i forgot to add. they did an excellent job of displaying their powerful characters this early on in the show. cuz as we all know they become op asf later on so i just hope that they do a good job for stronger characters moving forward (something that has to do with a fire man ;) )

Drake Rage

I just watched the ending, I swear they better not do anything with the Foxy pirates, I am sure that Foxy pirate sht was complete filler, and even amongst the filler episodes, the Foxy pirate stuff was the worst for me, lmao.

Christopher Ross

W live action. I’m super curious how they gonna do Chopper next season lmao

BZD

Roshi saying Mink when the Mink gets bonked.

I always planned on watching One Piece but the Live Action pushed it to the top of my list. After watching the Anime and seeing the Live Action I was not disappointed. They did so well. It's understandable they couldn't recreate everything, and I am happy they didn't. They made it good for fans and newcomers. I do think we will see Robin next season especially if they follow a similar pacing. I can see them ending just before Skypiea.

KeYo

yeah way better then I expected 8 out of 10. why? because they didn't include the fight between hachi and Zoro like ugh how they leave out hachi.....maybe he will be in it later on. great adaption tho

Argo2Unitard

The entire show's VFX budget would have gone into creating and animating a six armed octopus man fighting.

Argo2Unitard

The dude who played Bogard must have killed at his audition because there's no way he had all this screentime in the original script lmao.

SakakiMaya

Oda already teased Chopper for the next season when they announced it so it's going to be interesting to see how they handle him. Probably a complete CG character. Jamie Lee Curtis is campaigning to be Dr. Kureha and the showrunner wants her as well.

TimmSchmimm

Man I liked this, A LOT. There were many great changes as to how the story progressed and what we got to see + the set and general vibe from the scenery was insane however the anime is still a loooooot better but it was great in its own way. The actual emotional and incredible scenes from the anime/manga were a lot worse, like these are the moments where you normally go "wow, this... this is actually so crazy, this is so good wtf" while in the life action it was all kinda meh-touching at most. Though what I enjoyed the most were the dialogues, imagery and "brutality" or more like a world of pirates and bounty hunter etc. just all of it beeing more realistic + the action and choreography were really cool aswell. For next season I hope we get up to alabasta because it might just make one piece finally break into mainstream, this arc is close to a masterpiece and imo by far the most underrated one piece arc. If they adapt it well enough and even improve the "slow" pacing a bit this might be really really really good. Like actually great because the storytelling and structure is honestly one of the best oda every came up with it is really... grand? Also im really afraid of how chopper is gonna look like, just please dont be a walking ball of messy cgi :D.

Nuke XD

I think Robin will be next season, cause I thnk next season will end in Alabasta, and Robin appears in Alabasta as Ms. Sunday, we also gonna have ace in next season since they opening with Loguetown

Jamaal Ellison

The thing I didn't like the most was Coby. There's noway he'd ever show disobedience to Garp.

Vincent S Deluca

Robin isn’t actually that far lol she shows up before Chopper, she would 100% show up next season. After this it’s Loguetown/Reverse (1-2 Eps) Mountain, the stuff with Laboon (1 ep Max) and then Whiskey peak which is where we meet her for the first time. Chances are we will finish next season either heading to or arriving at Alabasta

ClayPM

We should remember that this version of the plot line was directly overseen by Oda so yeah Coby would if the author intends him to.

Bryann Kam

Yeah, if they’re smart, they will hold off on Alabasta until (at least) season 3. Because the emotional ending of that arc won’t hit as well unless a certain character has been around long enough to feel like they could be a new member of the crew.

Leo

Considering everything this was a great live action anime adaptation but nothing really moved me drama or action wise. That being said it's probably because I've seen it already. Never thought we would get one piece live in the first place. This gives me hope that one day we'll get a live action YUGIOH! I just want it because I think it would be terrible which to me would be hilarious someone wearing the pharaoh hairstyle and drip plus the stances. Dont know about everyone else but I can't wait to see tashigi but I'm really here for BOA. There's gonna be a lot of waiting.

Matthew Grant

I'm hopeful that the success of this season will give them more confidence in how they approach things moving forward

Senjioh

So question as a new fan of one piece, if Shanks has power comparable to Mihawk then how is a ordinary sea beast able to take his arm especially since he is to scare it away with a look? Was it to prove a point to Luffy or just a mistep in the writing?

Ruin

I’ve nearly watched all of one piece and I honestly don’t know lol

Nick Baynes

The in-universe explanation for it is that Shanks bet his arm on the new generation of pirates, and Luffy in particular. The out real reason for it is that Oda's editor told him that he needed to spice things up a bit and give the ending of that chapter a bit more impact, so he decided to take Shanks' arm.

Mr. Toastman

Live action yu-gi-oh would be amazing, and would probably functionally be the easiest to pull off

I VisiBomb I

one thing to note, shanks said it himself, that even when hungover, with his hand behind his back, he could take him, so he's a few leagues above mihawk when considering that.

KiliSloe

My theory is that this was a little before he became a Yanko.

Jimmy

The tattoo on Nami's arm is the symbol for pinwheel and orange, in memory of her mother.
