I think Yujiro was actually scared at first when the old man was trying to punch him, but afterward he figured out his secret and how to do it so he no longer feared it. Yujiro is seen as the strongest in the world but he is also a genius. He can watch something and learn it very quickly.

hey y'all i recommend Kengan Ashura after Baki ends not to crap on Baki it's a fun show but Kengan receives less love just because it stuck to cgi. I think it has a better story and the fights are very well choreographed i'd love it if you check it out one day. <3

So it’s not that Baki necessarily cares about him being the strongest/losing but more so that this man has always been an overwhelming display of strength and dominance in his life and this is literally the FIRST time he’s seen him even back up from an opponent. So it makes sense he feels an array of anger, pride and frustration. That’s his father, the STRONGEST creature on earth. Yujiro however as you can see is not only a man of great strength but technique as well even given his size. But amongst all else, he recognizes and respects true strength, hence the speech at the beginning.

Baki is a fun martial arts show, but you can tell the author comes from a background of Karate and MMA. Because he doesn't understand Nei Jia very much. This episode felt a materialist trying to understand energy work from a muscular point of view.
