Hype

Dragon

so we need y'all to watch 65 now lol

WAFFLETITS

NGL I hope they can turn this into a franchise like they intended. It'd be dope to see cameo's from celebs that are big DND nerds like the Critical Role folks, Henry Cavill, or Joe Magliano in future movies.

Danger Tomato

Didn't get a notification for this

Url Robbo

AYO LETS GOOO D&D!!

Chelsea Soto

Can’t wait to watch 😍😍

LordTouchMe

Urgh...! 3 more hours and I can watch!

Joshua

I ain't gone lie ill try to watch with em but I really don't like that movie

Renni .

the movie did really well in theaters. it surpassed expectations

MaybeNextTime

Vox Machina: The Live Action

Yahroh

There was soo much i liked about the movie. It was just the plot the buckled for me

Drake Chuckle

This movie was honestly really great - solid fantasy, action, and comedy.

StorySmith []

Man this reminds me so much of the first dnd campaign I was in

Earphone Jack

I really enjoyed this movie when I saw it in theaters and I’m glad you guys enjoyed it, too! It’s so good, funny, and fun!

Kingmakaii

I said the same thing when I watched it sheera it makes no since to bring the mom back and not her she don’t know her mom at all she has no type of memory or attachment to her 😭

Shiroja

Holga with potatoes is me lol. I fucking love potatoes.

Tuny kun

31:30 Ice JJ Fish? I'm fucking dead.

ShrubNinja

I'm excited to watch this, but I gotta be honest about feeling a little disappointed that you guys weren't announcing that you were gunna try dnd, haha

Thilde

Definitely enjoyed this movie much more than I thought I would. Great cinema experience for me

em

when wild shape girl was a fly and that sorceress pointed straight at her screaming bloody murder? chills

Devin reid

I’m pretty sure that was Jennifer Lawrence that got taken out in the maze lol

Ayoni Folarin

Critical role has shown that there is a market for it and hopefully this dnd movie can also to. Movie wise this is pretty good

Thilde

When I watched this the whole theater was dying during the graveyard scene lmao its so good

Avery

I hope we get that same level of choreography from that knife fight from this in Dune part 2

Champion Bescos

Bruh. Thought the movie was gonna be ass but actually had a fun time. I hope more comes from this cast/crew.

Gas Bandit

Not only do I have a functioning VHS hooked up, it's one of those combo VHS/DVD machines. I only keep it around for the vintage porn.

KeYo

wow that movie was actually good. corny but funny asf lol

Lazarus0024

Supposedly it made about 200 million in theaters, with a little under half of that domestic which isn't the greatest haul in the world but I don't know if that can be actually called a flop

Quintin

Damn Lupa must've fingerblasted the fuck outta someone 😂

Sauce Sorcerer

Thanks for the movie reactions!

Lurkingposter

For some DnD lore, Xenk is an Oath of Ancients Paladin. Once you get to a high enough level in that subclass you stop aging and are technically immortal unless killed. I loved the attention to detail that he didn't age in 100 years. Speaking of more DnD media. Baldur's Gate 3 is coming out in August 31st. I would love to see you play that game as it is an AAA video game using same ruleset and classes you see in this movie and Vox Machina.

Delinda Arts

really appreciate the movie reactions! thanks for everything Yall do!

Champion Bescos

Bro, not Roshi forgetting this ain't anime and casually exclaiming Chris Pine is caked up! Pause. 😂😭😂 Lupa's "..sire?!" killed me.

Musa

Are y'all going to react to Avatar the way of water some time or did you already watch it in theaters? Or are you not going to watch it?

NecDW4

Man, that 80s DnD cartoon reference was for like, 100 people tops! LUL

Jayden Holder

Good movie good reaction!

SakakiMaya

Xenk being a true NPC has useless dialogue and walking in a straight line.

Drake Rage

This flopped? I mean it makes sense because the writers said they were going to "emasculate all the men in it" because it would be "fun and new".. like no, men are being shat on by Hollywood for a while now, nothing new there. So people were surprised that it was actually pretty good and wondered why the writers sabotaged it by saying stupid shit while promoting the movie in interviews, lol.

BZD

This was hilarious.

Derrick Massey

I like how they added small game terminology and lore reference. This shit was fun from start to finish

Sriad

Holy shit that was charming.

Patrone07

Jonathan the bird man at the end was the funniest part of this whole movie to me the movie was alright but I can see why if you watch with friends and family it could be a fun watch

Douglas Kelley

It is a flop, in general a movie needs to make twice what the budget was to breakeven

Muse of Salzburg

Considering how disastrous a D&D movie could have been, I’m very satisfied with how it turned out.

William

fuckin rust monsters fighting over a padlock cracks me up.

Ebronics

according to the wiki page: In February 2022, a spin-off television series was announced to be in development. A part of a "multi-pronged approach" for television projects, the show is described as the "flagship" and "cornerstone" live-action series of the multiple projects in development; while the series will "complement" the film side of the franchise. Rawson Marshall Thurber is set to serve as creator, writer, executive producer, and showrunner for the series, in addition to directing the pilot episode. Various networks and streaming companies bid on distribution rights.[131] In January 2023, it was announced that Paramount+ gave the show a straight-to-series order and will consist of eight episodes, with Entertainment One and Paramount Pictures serving as the production companies.[132] In an interview with Polygon in April 2023 on the potential for a film sequel, Daley stated that "it was never our intention when we came on board this film to make a franchise".[133] Goldstein commented that they would most likely continue with the characters established in Honor Among Thieves if they returned to the D&D world – "the audience knows them, and you can jump into the plot more quickly. And obviously, we have great affection for both the actors and these roles that they play. But we'd want to introduce some new figures along the way".[133]

Miguel Angel Ramirez-Alvarez

It’s a fun movie, and if you know a lot of the lore behind it, it makes the movie even better.

Hana keiser

ok haven't even finished it and that breakout scene is like some shit my players would 100% pull.

2023-05-25 22:54:08 This is a movie based off of the official D&D lore -- something I honestly don't know much about because most if not all of the games I've been in have been custom, imagined universes by the person running it, but the easter eggs for the lore are really fun to follow along with. Main cast: Edgin (human bard), Holga (human barbarian), Simon (half-elf sorcerer), Doric (tiefling, so somehow affected by a devil or demon since her parents are human, druid), Xenk (human paladin), Forge (human rogue). Thought they were gonna mix up the races a bit and also thought Holga was going to be a half-orc or something, but guess not. Out of the main shorter races (dwarf, gnome, halfling) pretty sure Bradley Cooper's character is a halfling (think TLOVM Kima, but she's not the stereotype at all), considering how domestic and otherwise normal looking he is. Dwarves are typically tend to be stockier with noticeable beards and gnomes are nerds lmao. Also just based off of the way he talks and his power levels, if this were a "game", I think Xenk would be the random NPC the DM sent off to assist the rest of the party with a mission that's way out of their depth lol.

Abstract Dread

question somebody please answer, why cant they make the videos bigger, seriously like just a bit????

Legion

The layout is made for youtube purposes as well. With the amount of work they have to do to put out all content on both platforms this is the easiest way to make it. Plus if you have watched the movie or the original content that they react to before. It shouldn’t matter as much. I doubt they will change it just because. And everyone is here to watch them react to requests anyways… which should be a no brainer.

Abstract Dread

Thanks for that and the quick reply, put into perspective like that it totally makes sense. Thank you.

Legion

Yeah plus there’s also copyright issues on youtube. So this is the layout that doesnt put em in trouble.

Chuk it

did they watch avatar or have they not included it in their poll yet?

Foxyguava

My dude... they are already essentially pirating the movie for you. You can always grab your own copy if this isn't good enough. (edit: and i don't mean to sound harsh or mean... that's just what I do cuz I like to support both Roshi+gang and the actual shows/movies)

Foxyguava

This is a movie that a prime example of garbage ass marketing. The trailers and ads reeked of executives seeing people liking Thor Ragnarok and pushing to market this film in the same way. Oh they used classic rock, let's also use classic rock. They did funny edits to quip, let's do funny edits to quips. What worked for Ragnarok just wasn't working for this movie. The trailer just made it seem like a quickly written and produced thing riding on the love of other movies. I almost didn't watch. And then I gave it a chance. It's far from perfect, but that shit is enjoyable. It's charming. It's just fucking fun. Fuck executives and their misguided marketing teams for almost scaring me away from this movie.

SeriouslyJet

Roshi be "I'm still bringing back my wife" 😤; Sheera be like probably lowkey in his head "My man" 😏and then theres lupa "Guess i'll die"💀

beni-chan

Very true! I was not expecting to like this movie but I actually enjoyed it. Sure, the writing could have been better at times but like you said it was fun. I also really enjoyed the animation, and a couple times I was like DAMN they spent money on this!

Squid

You also just gotta keep in mind that its dungeon and dragons its not gonna have that perfect writing because just like in the game friends playing do a bunch of stupid and fun stuff and that's what makes it work its just in a way telling the story of that group of friends and the stupid things they do. Even in the combat in that final scene its timed to imitate the amount of seconds a player gets in rounds for combat. Its done very incredible and glad you guys gave it chance!!

Chris

I have legitimately had players accidentally do the grave scene before.

Yehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Spriggz

Fun movie, great reaction. Thanks

David

Marketing aside, sadly the issues surrounding Wizards of the Coast and Hazbro drove a lot of people away from DND and all in the months leading up to the movie's release. No doubt that led to more people refusing to go see it. I don't think putting Dungeons and Dragons in the title helped either, might have scared away those who don't play DND or really know what it is, or had them thinking they need to know something about the game in order to see the movie. I was unsure going into it, but left the theatre pleasantly surprised. Just an all around fun time. Really do hope we can get a sequel to it.

Coatl45

Unless I remember wrong, tieflings come about because their ancestors made a deal with a devil, usually Asmodeus. The traits often skip more than a few generations, so it’s a surprise to the parents when they crop up on their newborn children, who are often abandoned because of it. I’m not sure why the devils do it, as the tieflings aren’t automatically their servants or slaves. Unless it’s an unintended consequence of the pacts they make.

Bria A.

I was just trying to give Roshi & co. a digestible version of it lmao. Tieflings can be anything from a result of your standard devil pact generations down the line to a direct descendant of said devil. (They’ve since made subraces for lineages from each of the Nine Hells / reigning archdevils.) But Abyssal (demon) tieflings also exist, so the origin has pretty much widened to involvement with any powerful fiend-class monster. Based on general philosophies, I’d assume devils do it for leverage, influence, or payment and demons do it for pure chaos.

EZ

If Matt Mercer didn't make a cameo in this , I'm going to be very disappointed

Joe Michael

God I miss old Kanye when people use to sneak him his medicine

Nagash

have you checked the tags at the top of the profile? ;)

Aaron Gauntt

That wasn't a sending stone, clearly it's a rockie talkie

Champion Bescos

lmao I honestly do know that, I just was typing too fast and had a major brain fart. Thanks though guys 😂

Joe Michael

Old Kanye was great. How’s that weird im old I was born in the 80s I remember him before he was this way. When him and j were tight.

LJ

clap and a half to the punniest man in the comments

Joseph Adams

Man if you guys want a variety of dungeons and dragons content dimension 20 has some of the best around

Tug

i will be talking this for future campaigns LUL

Cerin Draco

My only gripe with the movie is that one of the main characters Ed is absolutely useless the whole movie aside from offering a few uplifting words and being the driving force behind the plot... his daughter literally does more than him in the end... given his background he should've been a bard, rogue, or fighter and yet he displayed none of the traits associated with such a denomination... No Magic... No fighting skill... No stealth... it really feels like he was one of those NPCs that you get stuck with when you accept a quest...

cheezeblade

I was in chicago the last week and finally got home after waiting for this. Monsters and snacks at the ready.

Lillian

Well that kinda makes sense considering they all felt like he was just using all of them to get his way including his daughter. He was a bard, but I thought we'd at least get the same amount of singing and making of songs as in The Witcher tv series lmao His main skill was lying and mild charisma lol

rickie woodson

it was fun watching WITH you guys but with your company this movie is a C. definitely a lot of good from the actors, costumes, effects, creature design etc but the dialogue and directing failed it. just didnt live up to the potential. oh well

rickie woodson

well there are some things that arent on streaming so if you had them on vhs....i used to record tv show back in the day. had living single, martin and xmen. if i still had a vhs player, why pay for hulu/disney when i could watch it for free. also old home videos. plenty of good reasons to keep that classic tech

rickie woodson

yeah they mixed together characteristics of both a rogue (charismatic, conniving) and a bard so he was never fully one or the other. used his sly charm to manipulate everyone into following him and his plans even when they themselves admitted "your plans flail alot" but that roguish charm gets em every time

he was the guy who came up with all of the plans and he kept the group together. He didnt do anything overt and isnt much in a fight but they would have failed without him.

YungZeus

Imagine in the end it zoomed out of a board showing Chris pine and them playing D&D with the Xender or w/e his name is, actor, as DM.

funny thing about Roshi's family joke, Vin Diesel is actually a big D&D fan

Totally Thomas

It's actually sad how good the movie was that could've had more people watching if it wasn't for the Marketing tactics and WoTC's internal operations fiasco.

Natonic

Imagine getting Henry Cavill, Terry Crews, Joe Magliano and Vin Diesel, who are all huge nerds, to play as the heroes or the big bads.

Trequan Williams

Ironically I watched that 65 movie with Adam driver and it was pretty good actually you should watch it own your own time

Dud3 itsj3ff

he was relatively useless in combat, but without his character that town would be straight zombies. He was simultaneously the most useless and most valuable member of the team... though they really could have given him the ability to cast buff magic or something.

matt i

FAR from a waste lmao saw it once with my friends then paid to see it again with my family haha both groups enjoyed it

hyakimaru dono

I haven't finished the movie yet but all the minor inconveniences are the players rolling the die not in their favor essentially rolling repeats

Myles Guy

Noooooo!!! Bro has the video game hair 😭😂💀

Myles Guy

I’m all about to tear up then Roshi goes “I’m a dragonfly🙂 thhpthpthpthp”
