I just realized the reason Haruno knew about Hikigaya wanting something genuine was because Yukinoshita parroted him to her sister. Just like with the phone call. Yuki stopped chasing after her sister, but she never became her own person. Instead, she began chasing Hikigaya and possibly Yui. The reason Yuki got upset when she didn’t understand what Hikigaya meant by genuine was probably because she isn’t able to mimic something she doesn’t understand.

I remember watching this when it aired and kinda disliking this season because it lacked the comedic elements of the first season mainly because was literally in middle school entering hs when it aired. I didn’t understand a lot of the more subtle and undertones of the show and thought it was just over dramatic. I rewatched the series a few years after and was finally able to understand what was going on. Thank good also S3 was announced not too long after my rewatch cuz my good was I in absolute despair because it was like sometime around 2018 and I had given up on it getting a 3rd season.

I honestly don't remember much how I felt back then when it ended as a middle schooler. I remembered being hella confused but I wasn't trembling in anger that they cut the season there.... then they announced the 3rd season during college. I was bewildered. Like holy crap an anime of my childhood came back from the dead was unheard of. And the moment they started the ep with the continuation of s2, I stopped and rewatched all of s1 & s2, and teared up a bit. Damn they really left us hanging for 5 years, feels good to be back
