*spoilers* I’ll be honest, after increasingly disliking the second and third JW films, I quite guiltily loved this movie, even moreso than the first one. The overall theme of revenge and emptiness hit harder with John consistently bringing death to all who helped him and still selfishly going forward, completely possessed with the notion of violent revenge. A husk or shadow of a man, especially contrasted with the “Cane” character. Similarly, the ultimatums of the villain on the supporting characters made for a great ticking time bomb. I always enjoy me some quality Keanu, but I also felt like Hiroyuki Sanada and Donnie Yen stole the show completely and that’s not a bad thing! Love those guys in any role, but especially here. I also felt like the guy who played IT, Bill Skarsgard, did a great job as the new big bad. I just wish they’d actually delivered him justice via a knife fight at the end. Overall, this was one of the best action films I’ve seen in a long, long time, maybe ever (in the same “I can watch over and over again” league as The Raid, Fast Five, The Bourne Ultimatum, etc).

This movie was fucking exhausting. The action felt like it went way longer than in previous entries, not a bad thing necessarily, but it did dilute some of it for me. Dragons Breath tho. Shit was literally fire. One of the best action set pieces I've ever seen. Also really hope we get a Caine/Akira spin off, Donnie was saucy in this. Overall I'd rank these JW1, JW3, JW4, JW2.

Roshi and crew are too young to have seen The Warriors. It's an 80s action movie that the lady on the radio was a whole homage to. It's definitely got some problematic stuff in it (mostly 1 character), but it's a classic. Ya'll should give it a watch.

That cool scene with the top down angle was done in many shots, but thanks to the planning and some clutch CG every one of the "rooms" could be done separately and spliced together and some even fully wipe with the black line (tops of the walls) adding smooth seamless transitions. This scene was done masterfully.

That at the end with Morpheus is literally John’s Dog… Hear me out… when the Bowery asks Winston if John went to Heaven or Hell, Winston responds “Who knows?” Then the scene focuses on John’s Dog looking up like he caught a whiff of something… Perhaps John watching his own funeral? Maybe he survived his injuries, passing out from blood loss, but saved just in time. This fake death would have a lot of meaning if it was true. Throughout this movie, it was really reinforced to us that the name of John Wick is permanently associated with death. Literally everyone, even the cops (Jimmy) knew who John Wick was. I’m betting John Wick survived, and is living by a different name, because despite the name of John Wick officially cleared of all ties and obligations to the Table, he was still the notorious John Wick, his very name itself being a tie to the Table. Living under a name (I’m betting he took his Wife’s surname), would really be as close as he can get to leaving his old life.

When Morpheus asks Winston where he thought John was, Winston responds "Who knows?" This seems like a clear indication that they wanted John's fate to be ambiguous here. They want to leave it open for sequels in case they make another one. But thankfuly this ending finally wraps up the storyline that started in John Wick 1, so if they come back it'll be a new scenario that won't be related to John's killing of Theon from the first movie.

My favorite scene was the top down, that is one of the coolest shots in any movie I’ve seen so far ( in regards to gun fights ). For those of you wondering the shotgun shells that was portrayed in the movie is called “dragons breath” which is a incendiary shell. The movie actually did a really good 1-1 of how it looks to shoot it. Been trying to get some of these but my state don’t allow them ( dam you California!! ). But yeah, also really off topic, I wonder if they ever shot guns before?

And on top of that besides the name John Wick being synonymous with death, it was also clear that there was damn near no way John could kill EVERYONE under or at the High Table. He knew that too, so he just let go, he died a free man next to the love of his life. Its a fitting end to the character, unexpected? Sure but I wouldnt want the John Wick movies to become Fast and Furious which the director already said he didnt want.
