Also Cid basically gave Beta and the others the impression that he could read ancient writing which is why she wrote the details like that in the book but Cid acts like he understands what is written and plays it off with his Chuunibyou act but it ends up working out for him which is why they don't question it.

At the end of the episode, Cid talks about how much slime Epsilon puts on her body. Epsilon thinks Shadow is praising her figure, but Cid was actually complimenting her on how much precise magic control is needed to keep all that slime under control.
