Just a heads up that the next part is kind of side storyish [Koyomimonogatari] and the episodes are only 12 minutes so you don't need to watch all of them except the last 2 which are extremely important for you to watch before Owarimonogatari Season 2.

the typical order would have been for Roshi to watch Hana in the middle of monogatari second season but he didn't so I'm letting him know in case he'll just go from Owari season 1 to 2.

Here's what you're missing: They keep making it a point that it's WEIRD Tadatsuru coincidentally happened to pop up out of nowhere the same exact night Araragi start becoming a vampire. Then at the end, Araragi realizes there have been a lot of similar 'coincidences' lately, like the pattern of how people keep getting driven away from him. That's what Tadatsuru's getting at with his 'why am I here?' speech: Someone or something manipulated events so he'd show up when he did. He doesn't like it and opts to just die (Araragi later realizes that Doll killing him WAS the plan in the first place). Oshino's important because his role in this plan is to not be around. Tadatsuru believes that if that piece of the plan is broken by finding him, the entire rest of the plan will likewise fall apart. (also, the stuff about Araragi getting dangerously close to being a vampire has some symbolic meaning that sets up his character arc for the rest of the show, but ya'll don't read that deeply into things anyway)

What i understood was that someone is manipulating everyone except oshino. The guy kidnapped the girls because someone wanted him to do it. But no one knows who is manipulating the events.

Think about what Tadatsuru said about casting. Tadatsuru believes that he has been casted in his role of opposing Araragi due to the timing being too convenient and is being controlled by a third-party, thus he asks Yotsugi to kill him to go against this casting. He asks Araragi to find Oshino, which Hanekawa has already been doing as Hitagi End established, as he believes the only one not being controlled is Oshino. Yotsugi stays with Araragi at the end to work against the casting, on orders of Kagenui and Gaen, which seemed to have purposely put Yotsugi in a situation that would distance her from Araragi. Tsukimonogatari is mostly a set up arc for the final season

Mainly setup, I suppose, for future stuff Roshi. This ep basically strongly hinted that there's a schemer plotting and setting things up. Tada basically said he was manipulated into this role to fight araragi now at perfect coincidence, and then araragi said that it was all to drive a wedge between him and ononoki. Araragi's vampireness got worse and now he can't go vampire anymore. He also got the find Oshino goal. So basically setting up stuff along with consequences for Araragi being dumb with vampireness. Looking forward to Owari. Personally, it has my favorite arc.

A great explanation. Tadatsuru's comments of 'why am I here' and 'I was cast for this role' imply that someone else is pulling the strings to ensure their plan is moving forward. Being aware of this, Tadatsuru chooses to die at Yotsugi's hands rather than allow himself to be a puppet.

I think that the main things that we need to get from this season is the reminder for araragi who has gotten used and even fine with the idea of being a monster yet at the same time is contradicting himself by not killing people to keep his humanity intact. And the fact that everyone, araragi, tadatsuru, yotsugi and everyone in the series is being controlled like a puppet by "someone", teasing us for Owarimonogatari's last boss

i feel like most post credit scenese dont really mean that much in the grand scheme of things unless they are on the last episode . Most of the time post credit stuff are shown on the next episode anyway

Like most of the posters said, the important part was the dude kept asking I don't understand why am I here? I don't understand, I still don't understand, etc. Then he says he was cast there because he understood he was the best person to stand there opposing Araragi as if this were a Theater/Play and they were just actors doing their parts following someone else's will. So he had no will of his own, he found himself cast into this role of being the antagonist of this segment. Near the end of the episode Araragi says how people are being driven away from him recently(First Hachikuji, then Sengoku Nadeko), and Ononoki says this segment was to drive a wedge between her and Araragi, so Gaen and Kagenui understood something/someone is intentionally causing these events to happen so they decided to have Ononoki be even closer to Araragi than before by living in his house as a doll, since the scheme this segment was to drive them apart. P.S This series is very interconnected, its difficult to connect the dots even if you watch it in one go, so taking breaks between the segments will likely make it even more difficult to understand and appreciate this story.

A lot of the comments in this section are pretty spot on and I completely agree with them all. The conversation between Tada and Araragi was the major clue and generally the main point of this arc besides the ramifications of constantly leaning on his vampire powers. Loved watching these with you guys, can't wait for the next segment of this story.

@Patrick Flecther Nah, that's dumb, if there are people that will cite fictional works and the like as what influenced their deplorable actions, that's not a reason, it's an excuse, and a bad one at that. All it shows is how filled to the brim with grime they already were if an anime was all it took for the cup to overflow. If one show is enough to somehow overturn all the teachings from your parents, your teachers, and society as a whole to be a decent person then it is not the show's fault, you were fucked from the beginning.

I haven't seen the rest of the series, but I have my suspicions about how this is working. Monogatari just means story. These stories each have some intended purpose. In this case, the purpose was explicitly to drive a wedge between the inhuman Ononoki and the human Araragi. I suppose Hachikugi's final story was to take her out of the picture. The same goes for Nadeko's story. Araragi and the others are actors in a scripted story. Someone is writing those scripts and making them play their roles and our actors don't want to continue being puppeteered around. Oshino is the only one who doesn't seem to be in the script and his presence would disrupt the script. I have my suspicions on who is writing these stories.
