You forget Roshi, Japanese people refer to each other last name first usually. Rouka is her first name, not Numachi. The girls both had the same FIRST name, not last.

Everything supernatural in this show is an oddity (excluding the scenery ofc.). So even ghosts are oddities. As explained by Oshino in Nekomonogatari, the oddities exist to serve their purpose, if they betray that purpose, the "darkness" get's them. The darkness can basically be seen as a law of physics in Monogatari; it destroys any oddity that doesn't have a reason to exist. For example, after Hachikuji stopped being a snail, and instead started roaming around, the darkness noticed her and killed her off. The purpose these oddities have, is decided by what humans believe. That's why there's so many oddities from folk lore, like gods, ghosts etc. But if someone believes in something enough by themselves, they can also create an oddity themselves. Like for example the Tiger in Hanekawa's arc, or in the case of Kanbaru, literally creating an oddity of a girl who committed suicide three years ago, Numachi.

The Snake girl that got cursed and became a Snake God was because the girl was fricken crazy and turned the "harmless" curses that Kaiki gave into a real curse. I wrote more about that on one of the episodes with that crazy snake girl, she was just crazy that turned her harmless curse into a real curse unlike everyone else got cursed but they were all "harmless" curses.

Last names are always first in Japanese but sometimes netflix shows fuck this up and you get confused. Idk what you guys use to watch this tho
