@Mirrorline It's also from 2006, so comparing it to a show that just came out is really unfair. Dubs have come a long way in the 17 years since this released, but this show is considered iconic because it stood out among the ok to terrible dubs back then. If this was made today, yeah, it'd be nothing special, but it wasn't made today.

Interesting time to be starting this classic anime when the end of JoJos as we know it returns tomorrow, specifically in the middle of the night. Granted for old times sake since this is the end as the legacy games against heaven and final 14 Eps, would appreciate if you guys could actually upload them on Fridays like how the first 5 parts aired live but of course you guys can see it whenever you want, just dropping it for us on a Friday is more ideal when you record it next week. It's mostly because of the sheer volume of both shows and releases. If they start a show, theyre going to blow through it relatively quickly. And somehow they still have time to do it with 5 or 6 at a time. Most other channels only do like 1 episode of a show per week or if they do more, it's only 1 or two shows at a time. Or if they do both, there's sometimes a long lag between releases for certain shows.

Everyone SHOULD know Brad Swaile (Rock's VA) as Light Yagami, but I doubt anyone has ever heard Revy's VA before. She usually does MLP and Bratz and other kiddie shows. I couldn't find a single role of hers that sounds remotely like Revy. Oh, she was one of Johnny Test's sisters... and the green haired alien chick too lol 😆

The show is good by itself but so many westerners keep saying that the show is iconic due to the English dubs. I know there's a good English dub in anime for example Cyberpunk. But to me compared to Cyberpunk, this show's English dubs is mid. It doesn't even show the difference in accents between all the different characters. Just that dutch sounds like a black guy but the rest of the cast sound like white American. Cyberpunk has a great English dub because it managed to show that every ethnicity has slang when they were speaking in English. But black lagoon doesn't do that so why the fuck does English dubs better than the original Japanese when the majority of the characters sound like a normal white Americans in this show?

I think the reason its Dub is mainly because of how old this anime is. A lot of us English speakers watched Dubbed content rather than Subbed because we were still smooth-brained idiot children. I still believe anything will ALWAYS be better when its inside its original format. Except Ghost Stories. That said, it doesn't look like a "bad" dub. Dubs can definitely be way worse than this. Sorry for assuming most of you were younger when this came out. Maybe the age demographic is much higher then I think it is here.

Yeah, I remember the mangaka who wrote Black Lagoon saying years ago that the dub script is closer to his vision than the original Japanese script, so he considers the dub canon to the anime, especially all of Revy's dialogue. Also this is her first anime gig, last I checked aside from this, her only credits are Susan Test from Johnny Test and a bunch of side roles in Barbie and My Little Pony, so it makes sense that she needs an episode to get into character.

More like a sequel/continuation. Since then the manga has had 2 full arcs about the length of RBT, so if they ever bring the anime back, they have enough material for 2 OVA series like RBT, or a full 12 episode season. Although I doubt Fu- I mean Crunchyroll Dubs would be able or willing to do it justice given their recent track record, but maybe things have changed since they got bought out by Sony (known for their hatred of uncensored Japanese media)

I really like the look of this show, so obviously mid 2000s in a good way. Pretty advanced, but also clearly hand drawn, with little if any CG upgrades. It reminds me that a lot of contemporary anime is almost TOO good looking and slick, at the cost of having the heart of even slightly older series that maybe weren’t trying to show off so much.
