Was waiting for this all day. Since I always whine about flaws in these videos, I was pretty disappointed in the execution of one particular scene with subpar animation and direction (around 16:00 to 17:00). It's probably easier to show the best parts of that as still images in the manga opposed to turning it into animation, but I wish they cut some of the budget/time from the Himeno POV or something to perfect it. Otherwise a top tier episode.

Around 16:00 to 17:00. Personal preference maybe, but compare chapter 24 in the manga compared to the animation here. If anyone is randomly reading this without having seen the episode, stop here if you don't want to be spoiled. Especially Katana emerging from the eye stood out as being poorly done, and the Curse Devil is cool (though slightly wonky) but the transition to Katana laying on the ground right after doesn't work well in the anime. The whole Katana Man vs Aki fight is just noticeably worse than the manga, but again, drawing the key parts of the fight and letting in readers fill in the blanks is easier than executing every part perfectly. I'm probably just spoiled by the manga, I doubt it's too noticeable if you aren't comparing in your head. The rest of it is probably on par or better than the manga, but that in particular rubbed me the wrong way. edit: dude asks me to explain what I didn't like, then deletes his comment so it looks like I'm just rambling to myself so he can pointlessly insult me later. Funny.

The part in the beginning of the episode were Hemino was get Denji in her place and taking a shower wasn't in the manga but I actually like how they show more of what happened before they "Had Sex" plus it was a good way to keep the pacing since they wanted to end the episode on that cliff hanger.

Although I wouldnt say the animation was sub par, I do agree with you on the whole Himeno pov thing being super animated at the beginning was a little bit unnecessary. I get the episode is supposed to show the death of Himeno and they probably wanted to let the audience see as much Himeno as they can, but some of the cut with the Katana devil is really ugly when combined with previous cut in this episode where Aki was higly animated with the nail sword and then showed katana devil in stiff cg after being revived. The visual could have been a lot better for the katana, ghost and the snake devil. The way they put cg devil scene and animated devil scene really took me out of the immersion especially because it went to higly animated scene to stiff cg.

People seem hung up on the subpar thing. I'm not saying it's subpar compared to every animation out there, it's subpar compared to what I expect from this anime. Subpar means below the average. Shots of them eating ramen shouldn't look better than the climax of the season. Fujimoto is 100x the writer I'll ever be and no one will animate anything I write a fraction as good as this, sure, but that doesn't mean I can't say I didn't like how they executed a couple details.

It was a little bit of Mappa fault on that. Because in the manga, it showed how serious the scene where Aki had to draw out the sword. But in the anime, they didnt put a lot of emphasis when Aki pull the sword out.

You may be confusing this with the Ufotable 3D assisted movement they do (very difficult and still not tracing) but most of the scenes where Lupa says 'rotoscope' are purely hand drawn, especially the ones with stationary backgrounds. The Mappa Twitter page even posts the genga for a lot of the scenes and animators also post their own scenes.

I mean in ep 6 & 7 both times Aki mentions using his sword Himeno is very quick to stop him, mentions it lowers his lifespan and also uses the Ghost Devil to subdue Aki. @Desto Samuels Nah, no masking. The characters when they show a lot of movement are still purely hand drawn most of the time. The animators post their individual drawings a lot of the time. Most of the 3D "assistance" is used as reference for how the characters will move in accordance with the backgrounds, no tracing except when it's full CG. Like one animator who used to do free running uses free running videos as reference for character movement. I'm also not trying to be condescending at all if it comes off as that.

Actually age of consent is legal for people 13-17… 18 and older can mingle amongst each other, but for anyone older than 18 to uh… mingle… with anyone 13-17 they have to have one or both parents consent. However if you’re 13 and your partner is 17, that is fine, and you do not need a parents consent. It’s not a sick law, except for adults need parental consent for minors. Thanks for not jumping into the "Himeno's a creep" hatewagon. Many American reactors I usually follow have been doing it and it's just painful to watch. Maybe they thought it would give them virtue signaling points or something but it's just extremely fucking awkward to watch. They're overreacting as if they were watching a horror movie or something. It really pisses me off how once this scene happened, those viewers are totally unable to put themselves in her character's shoes anymore, like from this point on there is a wall between them and her character, and they don't see her as a flawed human being anymore, but rather as a caricature of a monster. I find such extreme reactions concerning. I get it, in the past few years there have been (and there still are) a lot of child grooming events happening in America around the progressive side of the political spectrum and many American people are getting on the defensive whenever they see the words "child" and "sex" in the same sentence now. It's totally understandable. But on the Caribbean island where I live on, I know a whole pack of dudes who had their first times consensually with adult women, and none of them turned out like R. Kelly or ended up traumatized by it as far as I know. I'm not saying there is nothing questionable about it. I'm not telling you how to think. Bruh, I still don't get how there are people who don't understand this. Yes, the age of consent is 13 because it's remained the same from an older Japan. However, every prefecture has their individual codes set to a higher age of consent of 16-18. So, in specific prefectures he could actually be legal. First 5 eps of Demon Slayer is 1 ep of backstory and then 4 eps of training arc. Then some small fairly pointless side quests for another 5 eps. We don't even meet the main trio until episode 11, almost an entire season worth of CSM. Another 4-episode mansion fight scene, then the spider forest arc. We only meet the Hashira and get some interesting side characters/world lore at ep 22.
